As a neutral fan, I’m happy to see another 30 minutes of what has been a good game. I’m also happy to see Pulisic not going 120 minutes.
yea it's been a fun game but with a big league match looming this weekend I don't really think anybody would have just minded going straight to penalties.
Nice to see Pulisic get the assist. He played really well. Had it not been for the offside call, what a goal it would have been for him. Jorginho is such a defensive liability for Chelses though.
I thought he did okay with some of his movement. He got out-muscled a bit, but that'll happen going up against VVD and Matip.
Good match by Pulisic - more defense and compact than usual at the start (Lampard's strategy must have been to stay compact and play better defense) and did ok up till the great assist. After that his confidence was much higher and he played even more aggressively. Kante was the difference maker today - my gosh what a different team with him on the pitch. I hope Lampard can work with Abraham's mental psyche after that PK miss. it seems pretty obvious to me that Pulisic showed what he is capable of today. He had a few times when he disappeared today - but when he showed up and attacked it was very dangerous. He played 75 minutes today. He played 15 mins against ManU. Pedro went 120 today Jorghino went 120 today I hope we see Kante and Barkley in the midfield with Willian and Pulisic on the wings and then Giroud up top against Leicester this weekend.
I thought except for the penalty call she had a very good match. Were it not for VAR Chelsea might have really been in control in the first half.
Well that's true... but VAR is there to prevent bad goals from standing. She was having a lot of trouble making good calls with regard to contact. Chelsea would get bumped a bit and fall over, whistle. Salah would have people all over him leaning on him, no call because he didn't throw himself to ground. They missed a number of throw-in calls. Just not a good showing.
The loss of sideshow Luiz is a catastrophe for CP. His runs are early. Too late for Jorgy to catch them and too difficult for that lout zouma or the oddly ineffective Danish kid to pick out. Luiz would be hitting those early runs like a pro. Too bad.
Am I the only one who thinks Pulisic was onside on the goal? By foot placement, he appears off. But with the lean of the defender's upper body, he looks even to me.
He was on. The 2 defenders in midfield kept him on. If this was an EPL or CL game, I am sure the goal would stand. There's not enough to overturn it.
I understand your point re: VAR etc. I completely agree with it. Yes I did see a few times where the body contact calls were inconsistent. UEFA will do a ref review of the game and use it going forward.
regardless of the offsides that was a world class run and shot ... Lampard and all the Chelsea fans know exactly what they saw.
Back at home. Thanks again for the PBP all. Just giggling over coffee at the shock of EH finding the reffing favoring Chelski. Who could have predicted! Finally saw the assist and goal - nice pieces of work. Had the goal stood, CP would have legend status in his first start.
Was bad and inconsistent all match... that was just a particularly good example due to one thing happening right after the other. Pretty egregiously poor reffing, that. Not to mention the appalling penalty.
It was very close, but clearly off. Much more clearly than Raheem at the weekend, who looked to be off by about half an inch. If this happens in the prem... it's offside there, too. But in the prem I bet you the penalty isn't upheld.
One thing about reviewing OS from a video. As anyone who has ever run a line can tell you, unless the POV is exactly in the inch-on right spot on the field and perfectly parallel to the goal-line - and you can clearly hear boot-to-ball - I'm not completely certain we can call it from the armchair. All that really matters is what the AR and the VAR decide. The sad reality is there is a certain amount of small but real uncertainty in the old game.
