The Fire FC look great today- the Primeblue kits are really nice. They’re playing boring soccer so far, but that much I expected.
Just remembered the game was on today. I guess I did not miss much in the first 20 minutes. My partner is in New York, visiting her sister for the first time since before the Pandemic. 10-12 days to myself! I was stacking wood. No, that is not a euphemism for anything. I had 6 trees removed on Wednesday and now I have a huge amount of firewood and crap to clean up and move around. Go Fire!
Herbers politely provides the ball to the goalkeeper, when he could have shot the ball. Beric off(or), Offor on. (but who is under Unger or over Dunne?)
This is one of the most frustrating matches ever. I get what Fat Tony is saying about "something to build on" but the Fire need at least 1 point from this and it's getting to be unlikely. Ugh.
Wyatt Omsberg is playing up top? Why is he playing at all? Edit: Wicky must be a genius!!!! Tied up in the 96th minute. A very good header. Edit # 2: Called back for stupid offsides. Something totally stupid happens!
Awful game overall. That was a stupid offsides call. Offor offsides three passes before the shot. What a waste of time. I will gather branches and cut the grass.
Guys, it's not that hard to stay onside. It's really not. On plays like that called back goal (and about 50 free kicks), if the defense doesn't run backward, you can't just keep running forward. We kept having players 5-10 yards offside, and that's not all on Montreal playing a good offside trap. Good possession game again, but lousy passes on the last pass or two killed almost every attack. 2 goals should have been scored . . . Gutierrez needed to shoot high on his chance and Herbers needed to shoot anywhere but at the GK. There was plenty of room to Diop's left. About the VAR call, I don't like the way it was applied here (though it was in line with the way it's always applied). Offor was offside, but he didn't really get a touch on the ball and it was several passes before the ball ended up in the net. If that kind of offside isn't caught live, it shouldn't be called. I'm fine with a player on the final pass being called offside on VAR (though I don't like it if it's by millimeters).
