Payne to break the Saxon Horse? FC Twente vs FC Groningen sat. 2/27/2016 18:30 CEST

Discussion in 'Yanks Abroad - Gameday' started by feyenoordsoccerfan, Feb 24, 2016.

  1. Once again early bird opportunity to look at Payne.
After rampant AZ unfortunate timing again with a team in a winning mood.
His AZ match was rated with a 5 out of 10.

  2. FC Groningen made this trip 35 times before and won 6 of the matches vs Twente 22 times.
Last season FC G won 2-1, at home this season it was a 1-1 draw, and the Cup fight was a 2-1 win.
EC Twente won the last 4 matches in a row and FC Groningen lost the last two.
Still 6 points ahead, but it will be difficult to at least keep those 6.

  3. Juicy news from Groningen.
Jarchinio Antonia. The 25-year old winger has been banned from the first team.
He was very disappointed being substitute in the AZ match and went straight into the locker room, instead of sitting on the bench. He was adressed about that after the match and even called out a 1.91 meter tall (himself being 1,67 m) to step out and settle it (with fists). FC Groningen management deemed it to be conduct not fitting to FC Groningen.
So Twentes defense has a worry less.
Twente start of the season can be called a horror story with financial and organisational turmoil, somuch that one could worry about relegation. But eventually they managed to let the dust settle and start winning again.

This week it was made public that from 1st of march Desevio is made a regular first team selection member.
Tonight he speaks on FCG TV about these positive developments for him and about the possibility to go to the Olympics with the States.
Perhaps it can be seen here:

Payne on at 55 with the tractor boys down by 1. Twente tortured their left side on the first goal (not on any one player, just had all the left side defenders running in circles.) Twente scored again after Payne came on, I think, to win 2-0. Was watching the Hertha replay so I didn't see any of it. I'll try to scrounge up the 2nd goal.
