For sure. The Eredivisie's Big 3 would be near-title contenders in BL1 and "the Next 3" would do just fine there while the mid-table sides would be at the business end of BL2. That's a much more testing challenge than he'd face with Eintracht's reserve side in one of the RLs but still manageable for a guy at his stage of development, one he's risen well to.

I expect him to be challenging for starter or first-off-the-bench status come August.

I don't think this is at all true. I think top 3 could survive in the BL1 but the game is just so much tighter in BL1. Every time I watch an Ere game (which I enjoy), there is just so much space compared to any of the top 5 leagues,

I've been pretty impressed with Pax playing the double-pivot of late. I have watched roughly 3 games worth of minutes with him there and his ability to anticipate pressure and accelerate with the ball on the turn has been very good. He is showing some solid ball security in tight spaces.

There are 8-10 teams between "title contenders" and "could survive". Paxten could easily play on any of them.

Yeah, I think it's more like the top 3 in Holland would be battling for the 4-10 places in Bundesliga. There are actually a lot of similarities between the leagues, but the physicality of the two is night and day.

Paxten is passing Brenden in a lot of people's eyes, but I bet Brenden would be a complete stud -- in a more direct and attacking way -- in the Ered, too.

Per the bolded part of your post...Paxten passed Brenden in my eyes the moment I first saw him play 2 yrs ago. How much he has passed Brenden has only increased since then.

At about 3:57 of vid Paxten runs down a ball to Almere endline , passes back to Vesterlund who passes to Zidane who scores a cracker.

Paxten started against Go Ahead Eagles. Llansana for Go Ahead had an early goal ... and red card. Utrecht spent most of the match trying to fight back, eventually equalizing 3-3 in the 97th minute. Conceded 3 on 3 SOG allowed. Aaronson played the whole match, taking 5 long shots, but nothing to show for it and middling ratings on the squad.

Didn't see this but what a comeback by Utrecht to (barely) stay ahead of Feyenie in the table. Adrian Blake was all over the match report once he subbed in. Sounds like a wild game.

And barring a shock final 5 minutes, Ajax look to exploit the Utrecht let-up and hop back to 2nd. 2-5 still pretty tight. AZ are 10 pts off 2nd and PSV would require a historic collapse to not win the league.

  13. Average of ratings (number of matches between brackets) for the title "Player of the Year":
    Speler van het jaar-klassement
    1. Olivier Boscagli (PSV) 6,81 (16)
    2. Dávid Hancko (Feyenoord) 6,78 (16)
    3. Malik Tillman (PSV) 6,68 (14)
    4. Brian De Keersmaecker (Heracles) 6,60 (15)
    5. Walter Benítez (PSV) 6,53 (16)
    6. Ryan Flamingo (PSV) 6,50 (16)
    7. Thomas Didillon-Hödl (Willem II) 6,50 (16)
    8. Paxten Aaronson (FC Utrecht) 6,50 (15)
    9. Jordy Clasie (AZ) 6,50 (13)
    10. Souffian El Karouani (FC Utrecht) 6,47 (16)

Paxten again starts in a cup match against Amsterdamsche - a good Tweede (third tier) side. No Taylor Booth or Rickson van Hees today.

Paxten with a goal and an assist in an 8-0 domination of the quality semi-pro side. Played 90.

On the short list for Voetbalprimeur Talent of the Year award (to be announced tomorrow reportedly to Pepi):

  18. In Voetbal International's First half of the season's team in midfield, Kenneth Taylor (6.45), Michel Vlap (6.48) and Paxten Aaronson (6.51) just missed out.
Players must have received a grade for at least two-thirds of the number of matches to be eligible for this team. As a result, Ismael Saibari, Jerdy Schouten and Joey Veerman, among others, are missing.
