Well, I thought that Anson and Beth were better this time than they were last year. Only marginally so though. A couple of mistakes that I noticed. Beth said that the Germany-Scotland match was a friendly. That's incorrect; It was an Euro 2005 qualifier. Also they showed a little stat that listed all of the countries with players listed in the WUSA. It said 14 countries but showed only 13 countries. The missing country was France. Better camerawork but some mistakes of production. Never interview people in the last five minutes of a match. Also once there was a throw-in deep in the Courage end and they showed a stat while it was going on and the camera was at the other end of the stadium. Bad mistake.

Agreed about the Carin Jennings interview.

If they are gonna do fluff pieces during a match do it either at halftime or just have the audio portion on but don't put a camera on them so it doesn't take away from the match.

I could also do without the crawl at the bottom. But that's just being nitpicky. Glad to see ESPN2 carry the match even though the league had to shell out some major $$$ for it. It will be interesting to see the ratings for today's match (if it's ever released).

In somewhat related news anyone notice that the MatchTracker on WUSA.com for the Freedom v Courage match is still stuck in the first half?

Ditto on the Mrs. Gabarra interview. Even if this one was a blowout, why cut away from the action? Did the producer inside the truck ever hear of PIP? Was that technology not available on the console? If not, is it that expensive?

I don't recall being overly annoyed at Dorrance this time around. Maybe he's been told to tone down his act.

Perhaps but the question of timing is key. A better time would have been just before the end of halftime.

According to LoTheLurker, in El Lay the game garnered a .2 rating. It beat the LPGA (no big suprise there) and the NY/Montreal hockey game. The game tied the Brazil F1 Grand Prix race. Also tied horse racing but the horse rating got a bigger share.

Does anyone have a tape of last week's espn2 game? I set up the VCR and the Satellite. I forgot to actually put a tape in the VCR.

    Doh!

    Please let me know.

So what did everybody think of the coverage this week on PAX? I thought there were too many problems with the feed considering the lack of bad weather.

Looked to me as if they were actually having problems with the main camera (the one with the view of the whole field).

At what point in the game, do you find the most evidence that Anson wears a rug?

One thing that I noticed was particularly good today was the clarity of the players' voices. The sound was really there and you could understand the players. It was col.

First game on PAX is listed as drawing a .1 with 112,000 households.

Most PAX ratings from last year rounded up to .1, but many of the games were actually, when carried out to three decimals, below the .1 figure.

The household estimate for the 4/13 match was higher than last year's average HH estimate, though.

What I find assinine is the fact that they go head to head vs. MLS. I still can not figure out why these 2 leagues have to schedule against each other for TV coverage.

Precisely. My thought: what about 7 p.m. EST? Prime time means nothing on Saturday night cable.

This week's PAX match will be carried on tape delay. The actual game time is 2:30 PM ET.

Word is the second match (San Diego at New York) did a .2 with 175,000 TVHH, which was a big improvement over Game One.

If that's true, it would be the second-most watched WUSA game on PAX in the short history of that deal, topped only by the 177,000 households who saw San Diego at Washington last July 27.

Maybe MLS fans tired of waiting for the third set of that tennis match tuned in because Crew/Revs was delayed. ;)

If Beth Mowins is suppose to be the designated PBP person on the telecast then she should be doing a PBP and not babbling on about something else other than the play on the field. I found it very annoying today. C'mon...the first two pages of any PBP thread I do contain more PBP stuff than she does in an entire match.

Another thing I found annoying about today's broadcast was that it was too busy with too many other sounds coming in...most notably the Villanova stadium announcer. That was LOUD.

The stadium announcer has always been too loud and so is the music during the game as well.
