See..that's where that piece of writing struck me. It's like yeah, a fan with a good coach managing their club would expect that. But us Crew fans know our dumbass coach well enough not to expect that. Shoot, I'm sure most of us thought Denton would be playing the entire game..

Another crappy, uneventful draw at home? Sure, that'll get the attendance on the rise.

I wasn't at the game, but did they tote the US Open Cup Match vs Chicago during the game? Perhaps even when we were playing like crap and losing?

Good review site, myshap. I had not seen his articles before, but the comparison between what Nichols is doing and what GA is NOT doing was interesting. It's obvious that the rest of the league is aware that we are frequently clueless and timid.

I know GA has a masters, but were there any math classes in his discipline? If you tie 3 games you only have 3 points. If you win 2 and lose one you have 6 points (and more excitement). If you win one and lose 2 (with all guns blazing and offensive play to make the game entertaining - the business of professional sports ) you have 3 points and show ardor and courage.

"DON'T LOSE" is NOT a strategy. Not losing 4 games is not the same a WINNING! This streak without a loss crap is meaningless BS.

A tie at home is a loss. Playing for a tie, when you are the home team, is gutless, boring, drivel unworthy of fan support. The players obviously know it, too. Hard to build player support and team unity when you drop down to play for ties - why work the first half of the game?

These guys have literally come as close to unwatchable as you have come. You have two complete wastes of time in the Dallas and New England game. You then have a game against Chicago where aside from two quick goals, one of which was a complete fluke, play was pretty meaningless. The Colorado game was a snoozefest, and then you get spanked by DCU at DCU. Plain and simple, no matter how many water bottles, or bobbleheads you hand out, the people that follow this team aren't stupid. The east has been completely unwatchable, and the west hasn't been much better. Crew should've been capitalizing on all of this, potentially we could've been miles ahead on points right now. The entire league seems content to play for ties. Instead we get meaningless play from Mais, Elliot, and in many cases Edson Buddle. Denton has easily been one of the worst starters in the league. Martino seems to be well streaky, one game on two games off. I'd go as far as to say that Herdsman, who's been injured for some time now, Fraser, Marshall, and Busch seem to be the only players who can be bothered to put any effort in what so ever. Scathing? Maybe. But I'm just tired of wasting time and money watching Crew play square ball after square ball, then give away an unfortunate turnover at midfield. It's bordering on pathetic.

    what he said.

The only joy I'm really getting is watching Marshall and Busch save our asses over and over.

You only need to look as far as Greg Andrulis, and many of his starting eleven to see where the lack of attendance is being produced.

    unless youre arsenal.

maybe thats what greg wants. he wants us to be arsenal of MLS... this would explain the boring soccer and, since we arent overpowering in our talent (unlike arsenal), trying desperately not to lose, rather than to win.

The day that you can say Columbus Crew and Arsenal in the same sentence, is the day that you can actually say Wilson and sober in the same sentence. Never going to happen.

The Columbus Crew have a large arsenal of excuses for their crappy play of late.
