I stumbled upon these articles that say Sporting have some interest in Pauleta, and perhaps the feeling is mutual:

I doubt anything will develop on this front, but it looks like there is some friction between Pauleta and his coach, Vahid Halilhodzic and perhaps he may be on the outs from PSG...

At this time would Sporting benifit from a 31 yearl old striker who seems to have lost his touch more often than not. :)

This rumour also surfaced last year before he signed with PSG. I would sign him, but I am not sure he would want to leave PSG particularly if they advance in the champions league.

The Superliga is devoid of Portuguese strikers, so I support any move that increases their numbers.

Yeah...Porto could use another striker upfront
I thought they had Derlei, McCarthy, Postiga, Fabiano, and Almeida

I cannot see this happening due to the transfer value that PSG will demand. Besides, at 31 he isn't getting any younger, so I can't see SCP over-paying for an aging, yet still effective striker...

Forget Sporting. Benfica should grab him for a couple of years. he can be like our Sherear.

well, i have one brazilian friend that said that some board members were in the game Santos vs São Paulo and talked with santos board to ask about Robinho, but Robinho didn't played yesterday, so they'll be again this sunday in Santos game to see him play. My friend also said to me that Flamengo is closer to sign Roger

Pauleta would lead the Superliga in goals if he plays in it. the guy has been a force in the French ligue for a while now.

He would score between 18 to 26 goals every year.

I strongly believe he would get at least 25 a year with the potential of getting 30.

    Liedson is better than Pauleta.

Liedson's shiftyness and age make himmore of a commodity than Pauleta. I don't think that Pauleta will come back to Portugal until he is ready to retire, perhaps in 2 more seasons. Then, it's off to either Porto or...Santa Clara

Best Place for him is Nacional, they would then increase attendance.

O Jogo is saying today that Sporting will indeed look to buy a striker in January, but they say it's not going to be Pauleta.

If Pauleta is coming to Portugal he will surely go to one of the Big 3. They offer the best chances to win. If he wants to play for a smaller, less ambitious club, he will probably go to Santa Clara. They could use his drawing power, too, and perhaps propel them to the SuperLiga.

You are correct they only overpay for young, inexperienced strikers with no track record.:D

If he comes to the Superliga, I can only see him wanting to play for one of the big three.
