no not really a comparison. but compared with other players in his position in the prem league at that moment if you will. im basically just wondering how you guys saw him back then. i thought he was awesome, but some people dont and i have no idea why.
I can not say I saw him live or anything but from what little I have seen of replays and heard from others and sources, he was a very good player. I dunno if I'd label him as one fo the 'great's though. You'll have to ask more experianced ones.
Ince certainly was great, he played a vital role in our title runs and he complimented the likes of Keane, Giggs, Hughes, and Cantona really well. He was a physical guy, decent pace, good vision and off the ball movement.
What a previous poster said, essentially. Ince was not "great," like Roy Keane or Bryan Robson were great. He was, however, very good...and if we had a player of his caliber/style available to us, we'd be much closer to Chelsea than we are now. *take this opinion with a grain of salt. Though I've been "fond" of Man Utd ever since about 1994, I wasn't really much of a supporter (wouldn't say I was until about 2000 or so), and didn't get to watch much European soccer of any sort at that time.
Yup - he was good but he thought he was great. Considered himself above the team on several occasions and his lack of positional awareness cost us many times.
Given that I think I'm the cause of this thread I thought I'd chip in with my two cents. Paul Ince was a a very good player who thought he was the boy, and styled himself as the "Guv'nor". He was not a "great" player at Manchester United. He was there alongside Bryan Robson and Roy Keane, he was not a patch on either. With Ince in the side United won 2 titles in 6 years, without him they won 5 titles in the next 6 years and a European Cup. When Ince left United it was because he was no longer needed with the emergence of Butt, Scholes and Beckham. Not because he wanted to move to the best league in the world, or because he wanted to leave the club.
Same here. One of the first United game I saw was the Charity Sheild vs. Blackburn. If memory serves, I think Ince a goal on a bicycle/volley. I was hooked at that point....
*bows* Roberto Baggio and zidane wasnt any good because Juventus won more after they left right commie?
There is no point arguing with you. You live in the land that logic forgot. This derives from a thread in which you were owned again and again and again. You asked to leave it because we could not agree. I accepted, but now you seem to want to start it all over again.
im not starting anything. youre the one whos so friggin stupid you actually use manchester uniteds trophies before and after ince as an indication of his greatness.. or lack thereof. sorry that i call you on all your bullshiit. its just too easy with you commie.
i started this thread you fvcking idiot. anyway, coming from the biggest troll ever, ill take that as a compliment.
not really - you've started this thread on the Man U forum to continue an argument with a Man U poster that had nothing to do with this place. You've then proceeded to troll and bitch about other posters on here and added nothing of value. As I said, why don't you run on back to your beloved rep whore thread where you might actually be welcome
