I think both should do well in the Championship. The real question is if the EPL happens would they have enough? Because the gap is seriously large. A lot of the promoted teams either buy guys like Neves who were always too good for the Championship OR they end up replacing a lot of their roster in order to stay up. The question is are Morris/Arriola Major Leaguers? Or just AAA players.
Swans also targeting D.C. United's Paul Arriola for short-term loan. DCU GM Dave Kasper says, "It's an ongoing discussion. They are up against a clock with [transfer] deadline. So it's something obviously we'll be engaging with Swansea in the coming days." #dcu #usmnt— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 22, 2021
Paul Arriola confirmed to @TUDNUSA that he has talked with Swansea’s HC and is ready to go. Just waiting for both clubs (Swansea and DC) to reach a transfer agreement.— Michele Giannone (@MicheleG3) January 26, 2021 The most likely transfer agreement is the same as Jordan Morris. 6 month loan with a buying option.— Michele Giannone (@MicheleG3) January 26, 2021
Good one! I like AmeriSwans. The rental birds. Fly us for 6-months. If you like... transfer guaranteed.
Hes still on the roster so I guess if he gets a deal done within the next few days he won't be there? Cause he has to sign by Jan 31 right?
Between Swansea, Arriola, and the Liberty Stadium, I feel like there's something workable and obscene about the Statue of Liberty in there.
Hence the booby (which is also a bird) reference. But if I explain the joke, either it wasn't that good to begin with (very possible), the audience is too, uh, unable, to get the joke (also likely), or both!
Paul Arriola remains a Swansea City target before the transfer deadline closes Monday. Nothing will be decided before Sunday, I'm told. Chances of the loan happening: probably 50/50. #dcu #mls #usmnt #swans— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) January 27, 2021
Reports out of Wales don't seem optimistic about this one happening: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...s/swansea-city-transfer-deadline-day-19739819 Paul Arriola, the DC United winger, has been linked with a move to SA1 for most of this month but a deal for the 25-year-old now looks to be off the cards. . . . The American scored a brace last night for the US, but the logistics look too complicated to sort. We'll keep you updated.
Him playing last night should be evidence enough that a move ain't happenin. Why would he risk playing last night if he was set to fly out to Wales this morning. He would have left camp last week if it was a true potential.
Likelihood of @PaulArriola going on loan to Swansea City is fairly strong, multiple sources say. If it crosses the finish line, the deal would be short-term loan only without option to buy. However, sides would continue talking about that part of it. #dcu #mls #usmnt #swans— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 1, 2021 Looks like this one going to come down to the wire
Doesn't the loan window go longer than the purchase window? Or is that only for players within the UK?
Update: This is almost done. "Paperwork in motion," I'm told, for Paul Arriola to join Swansea City on loan for rest of Championship season. DCU would retain conditional right to recall him. No immediate option for permanent transfer. That could change down the road. #dcu #swans— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 1, 2021 getting closer...
Does that mean DC could recall him prior to the end of the Championship season? I guess that's the logistical aspect that made this trickier than the Morris deal.
Yes DC could recall him before the end of the loan. It's a clause put in to some loan contracts in case he's needed due to injuries, etc. Like Dike's deal with Barnsley
