The official press conference to come at noontime MDT tomorrow. He'll be missed and then some. Should go right into the HOF, waive the waiting period.
For as great as Brodeur is, Roy is still the best I've ever seen. Amazing career, especially on those Habs teams of the late 80s/early 90s. An absolute wall.
The "Godfather of Goal" has left the building.Sad day indeed. He is the best goalie I have ever seen, period.End of story.Mind you, that fella named Grant Fuhr wasn't to bad either. My only wish was that he finished his career as a Montreal Canadien, that will be how he is remembered by me.Good Luck,St.Patrick with whatever your future holds.
Patrick Roy was such a stud in the net. Unlike most athletes, he actually got better and better every year up until his retirement. He was dynamic for the Habs and equally impressive in Colorado.
Nothing was ever boring with Patrick around. I'll always remember him giving a mock arm raise to the Montreal faithful, and then telling the President of the Habs, "This is my last game in Montreal." Or telling Jeremy Roenick that he couldn't hear his insults, because "My ears are plugged with two Stanley Cup rings." Or how he smashed a computer monitor with his stick in the Colorado GM's office, and how the Avalanche went on a tear after that and won the cup later that year.
Winning the Cup with hockey's greatest franchise in his rookie season was the stuff of legend. His treatment by Tremblay (Red Sox/Ruth... Sixers/Moses Malone... Hawks/'Nique) and his play in net are the reasons I adopted the Avalanche as my second team, even tho I'm not a learned hockey fan. The best ever, including Fuhr. Good luck to him.
As a Redwings fan..good ridance... As a hockey fan he was fun to watch and 551 wins is the best ever....
