Agyemang scores with another towering header! He is really dominant on high balls in the Championship.
I thought Pat would be fairly competent in the Championship, but he's already scored more goals than I expected this season I was expecting 6-8 (and that was more because of how Derby plays). Also think people forget that Pat had double hernia season after Gold Cup so this is really first time he's been healthy since the 2024 MLS season
The goal: Patrick Agyemang scores his 10th goal of the season in England’s Championship, pulling even with #USMNT teammate Haji Wright. pic.twitter.com/EumFUlI7dD— Doug McIntyre (@ByDougMcIntyre) February 14, 2026
I am about ready to eat crow on this player. He may have surpassed Haji as the third best US striker playing in Europe.
At this point Big Pat needs to just enter the NBA dunk contest. When that ball is in the air he’s going to dunk on some poor helpless defender. It’s fun to watch defenders squirm on set pieces when they realize he’s in their vicinity. Big Pat is Champo built and it’s been a joy seeing his progress.
I always felt they were vaguely similar as big body forwards and in competition for the third spot. Wright had a big lead because of league, goals and versatility. It's a dead heat now and will depend on form and how they look in March if both are called up.
This win lifts them into 6th and into the playoffs for the first time this season. With 10 points from the last 5 games and 17 from the last 10, they're one of the division's form sides and on track for 76 points, enough to make the playoffs in 8 of the last 10 seasons There's a more-than-decent chance of Pat being in the Prem next season with Derby but it's very tight in the race for that final spot - there are 6 teams within 3 points of them.
Coming in new to the league and the country, dealing with injury recovery and a new team . . . he's now tied for 6th in the league in total goals. ALL of his are non-pk, right? 2 more goals and he's tied for 2nd. Quite a start.
Haji doesnt play big. Big Pat does! If you want a guy to disrupt play in the box it is 100% Big Pat. Not to slight Haji, but he doesnt play that role at all,
What are the chances your ex could come on in the 75th minute against Slovakia in June and power home a header goal like a pure, primal beast? You seem like the kind of bloke who appreciates having back-ups at the ready.
USMNT has been god awful on set pieces, especially corners, so having Agyemang develop into a weapon would be very welcome.
Agyemang starts! Derby County (T-6th) visiting Watford (T-12th). Note: Only 4 points separate 10 teams fighting for the sixth (and final) promotion playoff spot.
There are several instances of high praise from his coach in that piece. He's made a very big impression.
Yes, but reports of Eustace and Agyemang tying the knot next weekend are exaggerated. It's the weekend after.
Indeed: “He understands this is a very physical league and he’s one of the top performers in the division. I don’t think he gets protected as much as he should from the referees for sure because of his size and the way he plays. I think defenders are getting away with fouling him. “There’s so much more hard work and more development to come, which is the most exciting thing for me.” “We’ve got a huge asset at the football club, and he’s got to continue progressing and developing in the way he has done.” He's done fantastically well already and he's surely going to the WC in the summer so Derby will struggle to keep hold of him come August. Given his standing at the club, IMO he should consider staying there (possibly with a renegotiation) and see if the Rams can get promoted. That way he's likely to get offers from stronger, better resourced clubs with a bit more patience but I think he's someone who could go very far in the game. How did the song go? "The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades."
2-2 at halftime. The field is terrible. The good spots are terrible. The bad spots have no grass at all (and the whole thing is saturated slop). Agyemang had a really nice solo attack that lead to a difficult shot over the bar. The 2nd goal came off a low, hard cross from Agyemang that the keeper palmed out right to a ready player who did a solid job sending it home.
Does it bother anyone else that shots/passes that force the GK to deflect into the path of a teammate for an open goal are not considered assists? As a matter of fact, I think crosses/passes that get deflected by defenders should be assists. The worst is when a defender gets the slightest of touches which negates an assist. At any rate, it seems like I see the sitter from a palmed save by the GK multiple times a week and the majority of the time I think the original shooter deserves most of the credit. I mean... isn't that "assisting" a goal?

Just as long as none of them expect him to actually play football. Don't actually expect him to touch the ball at all, other than to bounce it off him in the air in the box for a goal.
