I didn't see that, but I did hear it on the AYLsoccer post-press conference interview with Kreis. www.aylsoccer.com Pope it is.
If by 'dense' you mean was I trying to talk to you on your level then I yes, suppose I am guilty as charged. As for Adu, hmm ... he is so good that DC let him go, he is sooo good that he has made the expected difference and helped win how many games this season for RSL? Oh and he is soooooooo good that he has how mnay assists and how many goals? Look Kermit, this display you put on to confirm your lack of intelligence in public is certainly amusing, and yet quite sad at the end of the day. I appreciate that you would like to lick his balls clean (soccer of course) after every game, to you he's a hero, a 17 year old hero which again gives me some concerns for you that you love an underage boy (FIFA rules I'm referring to of course), of course that's if you really actually believe he is 17 ... but face facts, he's not good enough, i ask my question again. Who in the EPL or in any of the major leagues in Europe would he replace? tell me a player that he is performing better than? It's not about potential (hello have you heard of n. Besagno?) it's about performance. What has he actually delivered? he was even sent home from world cup training and no it wasn't because DC 'needed' him back so badly. I would attach a reality pill to this pot if I could but honeslty I fear you'd get confused with it and end up choking on it. I didn't say he wasn't a nice lad, I just don't get bought as quickly as some people on his marketing machine. But put up against Medhi, you have to be kidding! I still think from a soccer perspective it was a mistake to bring in a nother player to do what Medhi already does very successfully. It has only caused confusion on the pitch, oh, why oh why am I bothering to talk about soccer with you? You clearly won't understand ... Aside from that, thanks for posting, I can't wait for your next glimmer of wisdom and demonstration in public speaking.

Oh yeah, you clearly have more soccer knowledge hahahaha...hubris is silly when it comes from the likes of you. You're talking down to me? Umm you really serious about this Mehdi player??? seriously he can dribble the ball good, sometimes better than good but he has zero vision? How many times does he pass the ball and puts his target in a dangerous situation? Mehdi has good possession skills but looks lost as to where to stand, pass, distribute to be effective. I've only watched these first 4 games so maybe he was better last year but you can't seriously contend that Mehdi has the soccer knowledge that Adu has. The one thing about Mehdi I do like is his work rate, he has a lot of tools but doesn't know how to use them yet. Since he's so young I think his upside is very high with proper coaching. I'm not saying Adu is God or anything just that he played very well last game and showed his quality. I've rewatched the game, I tape the RSL games when I can, and I don't think I reached with my impression with his performance. His best of the year so far. Last game Adu pretty much stunk up the joint. He lacked hustle and I was very dissapointed and I think he was showing his age. This game he came out with some fire and played well. NOt great but well. Unfortunately for RSL he was their best player that day. I just don't understand how you guys can't see the beautiful touch and the way he can weigh his passes with such precision and not be impressed. I've seen him make passes that only the great players make. He still doesn't possess the work rate or holding ability of the great players but he's young. I'm in my late 30's and have been watching and playing soccer since I could walk. (my Dad is Peruvian) I grew up watching the Peruvian game and beautiful soccer when I grew up and Adu has some of that magic. Yeah I admire Adu's abilities and understand his flaws but I think you guys are taking for granted that he's a special player with tremendous upside. He's not a great player now but he has the potential to be one unlike most players. Oh and your attempt at humor was very ummm...childish, is that the word, ha, wow, accusing me of pedophilia, homosexuality (though there's nothing wrong with that if that's your bag) and what other homophobic jabs. You know what they say about those who point fingers eh? Maybe you need to take a look in the mirror but I don't know maybe the vomit you were going to spew might come up earlier than expected, Kermit... Need I remind you that Adu is not the whole team? RSL's biggest deficiencies are defensive, the goals will come, give it some time. But the defense? Me thinks they need to get a couple new players. ps. Oh and how is DC United doing without Adu?
MOD NOTE While we want ppl to speak their minds and debate the issues, please refrain from name calling or mocking people's choice in gender relations (real or percieved). We will be moderated future posts that violate these well established BS rules. Thanks.
I would be cautious of making that argument, the him making a difference argument, based on current results DC may miss him more than expected. Last year this time DC was 3-0-2 (11 pts) this year 0-3-1. (1pt) = -10 Last year this time RSL was 0-5-1 (1pt) this year 1-2-2 (5pts) = +4 By my math thats a 14 pont swing between the two teams...not insignificant.
Not all can be accounded to Adu leaving. He wasn't the only one who left, what about Esky? And biggest loss of all of all Nowak? In the offseason, DC was gutted and they brought in guys who haven't panned out. Adu was just one of the ones they lost.
Yes good point, my mistake. The general point remains the same, especially on the DC side. I think DC underestimated the loss of Adu and Eskandarian as it relates to team performance.
Sorry I didn't see your post while I was posting, yes I would agree Adu is not the only issue at DC it's multiple issues. My point was regarding the other posters comment that DC was willing to loose him. I think people underestimate DC United's front office staff, his desire to move to Europe was a major factor in the decision. But you are right the loss of 7 or 8 goals and a few assist from Esky and the loss of their coach have to have also had an impact.
*Okay, so....who is going to bring the goat to the game tomorrow to sacrifice? Rice Eccles gets pissed over confetti, but I don't think they'll mind the blood, even they know that we must make an offering to the soccer heavens as thanks for this great blessing. Too bad we're not playing Chivas, then the whole goat killing could represent two things at once. Oh well. Anybody willing to part with a bull named Red?
I've actually witnessed the preparation and cooking of a live, whole goat before. Tip: you don't wanna be the guy that has to clean the intestines.
RCB cooked one before the july 4th chivas game last year. As for live ones, not sure where to get one, but you can buy goat at the african market.
Adu has been moping around since Ellinger has been fired. He doesn't want to talk to the press and is going to issue a statement to them. If Adu does leave after this season we are going to have a ton of money open up. Kries Pope Adu Mathis (100,000 off the books) That is almost half the cap.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=427558&root=mls&cc=5901 He isn't the only one that thinks that way.
