All coaches are interim...some are just overtly interim.

Kudos to Kreis for not trying to pull a Walter Zenga...

I'm willing to give this a shot...goodness knows it can't get much worse.

Pope no, he's too much the professional. Adu, maybe, but if I'm reading things right, I think Kreis would have the balls to sit him if he doesn't. If he's riding the pine in MLS, because he won't listen to his coach, I don't see the type of team Freddy wants to play for even considering him.

That's what the team needs though is someone who won't take shit and won't let the inmates run the assylum.

    Repped.

Kreis' remarks were very appropriate & well spoken today. He wasn't on my short list, but Kreis has my full support until he gives reason otherwise.

That said, his "grace period" will be shorter than most, b/c he's already part of the system. He needs to implement immediate, noticable & dramatic changes to put his own stamp on this tream. Otherwise, he'll forever be burdened with being just a bad Ellinger sequal.

    Long live RSL.

I agree that he needs to implement immediate changes, but I will personally be happy if I just see changes even if they don't come with results initially. Had all of our games up til now had the drive the first 70 minutes of the Dallas game had then I wouldn't be nearly as discontent with Ellinger. If Kreis can show the ability to inspire the players, make appropriate subsitutions, and not let the team get away with crap then I am certain that the results will come even if it is not immediatley.

The biggest change I want to see, immediately is a sense of urgency. The one thing that Kreis can do RIGHT THE ******** NOW is light a fire under some guys.

Probably right. Ellinger actually got some benefit of the doubt from driving an expansion team from scratch. Kreis will get a report card for this season, and it will probably have more than a little to do with how long he's there after that.

Thanks for the quote Donk...This is EXACTLY my concern with giving the job to JK. I'd be ecstatic to be proven wrong, but I'm wondering how, given the tactical level of Jason's play in the Crapids game (He and Talley were stepping all over each other, he was constantly in poor position during counterattacks, etc...), he is likely to improve the level of our play. I'm going to practice tomorrow, so I'll have a good look at the first Kreis era practice. Given the need for some fundamental tactical, intensity, and conditioning change, I'll be interested to see what Jason does to set the tone. I'm also interested to see what kind of formation change playing without JK in the middle is likely to yield. One nice thing is that we aquire some cap space with the loss of Kreis' player salary.

Are practices open to the public? If so, how do I get in? What time?

Yeah. Kreis had a bad game against Colorado (as did the whole team)...

However, he's also had 12 years of mostly good performances - not to mention he's the first MLS American born MVP, the league all-time leading scorer, etc. Those things don't necessarily mean he'll be a good coach, but if you're going to try to read something into his playing career you might want to include the other approximately 360 games he played in MLS (not simply the last few).

    Amen, Brother!

Those with maturity will accept it as it is without much of a hiccup. This is their job, and Kreis is now their boss. Perhaps those who aren't mature enough will have more of a problem - I'm sure time will tell.

It's funny. You can make some of the people happy most of the time, and most of the people happy some of the time, but apparently no matter what you do - some people will just never be happy.

I'm pleased to see what changes occurred with Kreis and Ellinger. Aosthed pegged it perfectly in his earlier post where he broke down the changes.

This is for the losers bashing Adu,

He can't go to Europe until he turns 18, you guys are ********ing dense aren't you? Not because he's not good enough or didn't make it but because he cannot legally play in Europe until he turns 18 per FIFA rules.

Adu was the best player on the field last game by a long shot so shut the f up already. Why do you guys bash your best player? When the window clears for him we'll see how many clubs don't give a shit about Freddy. Adu will get offers when he's eligible and will move on and I wish him the best of luck and hope he can end his MLS career with positive memories. but with some fans like you guys I bet he can't wait to get the ******** out of here.

Adu can't help it if the players around him suck ass. The defense is shit and he set up 2 sitters to no avail. Yeah he deserves to sit on the bench. Whatever man,

Hey, it's really great that you stopped by the RSL boards to insult members of our forum! Thumbs up to you - can't wait for the next slam you toss at one (or, as with this first post from you, all) of my colleagues here.

Yes. They start at 10 AM at Rice-Eccles... enter through the southwest gate.

Bring change for the parking meters cos you will get a ticket... they are pretty strict about it!

They won't be strict tomorrow--if you can find a place to park. It's graduation at the U.

Wow. A little uptight, are we?:p

Let me introduce myself. My name is crackhead, and no, i didn't just compare Kreis to Keane. I did give an (meaning ONE) example of a coach with no coaching experience whatsoever, that turned around a club that was headed down the sewer (yes, PRK, I said down the sewer. Maybe "destined" was a bit much, but they were playing horribly and Kean-o did a fantastic job of setting that ship straight).

Is Kreis Keane? No. Hell no. Can he change help turn this club around? Please let it be so.

Of course, I should have expected a reaction like this from a 'pool fan. It's no coincidence that the arrival of Keane at United correlates greatly to many years of Utd beating 'pool for the title. ;) And don't come at me with any CL smack talk, 'pool haven't had to play a serious league game this year. They were already way out of contention for the league by Christmas and could focus on the CL. I'm just messing with you....Scouser!!! :D

    Yours truly,

My thoughts exactly. While I disagree with the way this was handled (Pastorino actually leaves, everyone else shifts around, no new blood to reinvigorate the franchise) I think Ellinger's new position is appropriate and I am excited to see what the team gels like under Kreis' direction.

Now, who will be RSL's captain?

From the ashes of Captain Kreis's ascension to Coach Kreis....
