Hey, look what I just found! ESPN has put all of the Parade magazine All-American teams up on their site. So all of the girls' soccer teams since the first one (1993) are there, as well as all the boys' teams, not to mention all their football and basketball AA teams. What a treasure trove!

    And here's the link!

I wonder if there has ever been a Parade All-American player, who happened to attend HS in Europe ?

Thanks for posting this... it is interesting to me to see players whom i know on a personal level having been thought of on par with players who would later go on to become relatively famous... i know a couple of the guys from the 1985 team and it's kinda cool to think that they were judged to be on par with the likes of Harkes and Ramos...

it also makes me think how quickly time has gone by... 1985, for some reason, does not seem like that long ago and yet players like Harkes and Ramos have seen their playing careers come to an end...

finally, it makes me wonder if the kids that we see on the recent selections will ever realize the success that some of their predecessors achieved...

    thanks again for the link...

    Re: 2003 list?

It could be any Sunday now. In past years it has always been in a January or February issue, but they are running late this year. When it does come out, I hope somebody will let the rest of us know. I don't subscribe to a paper that includes it. Thanks.

    Parade AA

Wow Klee, this is a treasure chest of information. I'm impressed (by myself... :) that I recognize so many names from the older lists. I think I could make an academic study out of finding where some of the players I don't recognize went to school to see what kind of careers they had. Who would have thought that Smurf (Tina Murphy) was an AA? I would have never guessed it...

This is the first year that I've been getting the paper so I'll let you know when (if) they publish the AA list in the Herald-Sun.

Thanks again for the great link!

    Re: He's back!

Having nothing to say, I simply chose not to say it!

I may have live up to my dinner offer soon. Travel to Chapel Hill. I will let you know.

In a strange way, I was kinda encouraged that Tarpley did not make the top 18 for yesterday's match. Having three out much of the time on the Nats does not seem to be the way I would script a beginning. I hope very much for Tarp to succeed, however.

totally off topic, but did anyone else think Chastain spent much of the match passing the ball to the Canadians? And they ran by her on her 34 year old legs pretty easily in the first half.
