From Goff Soccer Insider: Do we still own his MLS rights or does he have to go back thru the allocation process? Doubtful we could afford him, but since Eintracht went down to Bundesliga 2, he probably had to take a relegation pay cut in his contract.
Now that is interesting. Moffat would be trade bait to clear up cap space if Clark is really an option. I honestly don't know bout his rights, but I think as long as we made him an offer at the end of his contract - we do.
I can't recall if we made an offer on him but I think we would have under the old rules just to retain his rights. Now there was nothing to indicate MLS was an option for Rico but if we could get him for say $300K, I would move things to do so. I think most fans IMO still don't appreciate how much he cleaned things up and took care of business in the middle. Great player. Underrated.
thing was, it was Holden that was publicly offered the big pay raise.. not Clark. besides, would the Dynamo even consider offering a comparable wage that was on Rico's table after the Confed Cup? and pair that speculation that we knew he was dropping the Orange leading into that year's summer.
I don't want to spend too much time on the long-shot hypothetical of Rico returning, but he made it known in the summer that he was leaving to go overseas at the end of 2009 and the Dynamo had to choose (rumored) whether to keep him for the stretch run or let him go and get a transfer fee (which it is unclear how much if anything was offered by an Italian team for him). Clark was gone the minute the WC final ended. The Dynamo may have made a qualifying offer to retain his rights if he came back to MLS.
The offer to renew Clark's contract did not have to be competitive with what he was getting from Europe. Only a bona fide offer relative to his then MLS contract. If I understand the rules correctly.
Longshot to return to MLS is probably correct, most likely will be loaned out over the Winterbreak as I don't really see Frankfurt "waiving" him while he still has a "cheap" contract until Summer of 2013 by German standards. Our One Game Trialist Bjorn Lindemann has been sent to the second team of Third Division Side Jena, apparently he still likes to party more than play.
Correct. And the bona fide offer essentially is anything that is close to market value that the league approved. As for rights, if you make the bona fide offer at the end of a contract you maintain the rights (and have to make the offer every time contract ends). Under some circumstances, the league will offer allocation money when a team loses a player internationally, if you take the money you lose the rights. This again, is one of those things I wish our reporters would find out because we likely will not know if we maintain his rights. Clark is interesting because he is a borderline Nats player right now and REALLY needs to be playing in order to secure a spot. So while he may have some other Euro options, he needs to be on the field so it is not out of the realm of possibility that he returns to MLS in the next two years.
Maybe they could work out a loan for Clark. Landin to Atlas? http://deportes.terra.com.mx/futbol...304455fd09014310VgnVCM3000009af154d0RCRD.html Brian Mullanre ups with Colorado. http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2011/12/05/mullan-signs-new-rapids-contract/
Is my Spanish right? Does it say he was inactive since leaving the dynamo and will be a Atlas third stringer?
John Michael Hayden is playing for the Louisville Lightning of the Professional Arena Soccer League. http://louisvillelightning.com/Team/JohnMichaelHayden/index_E.html Yea, I'm pretty bored.
After a trial Landin has been signed by Puebla. It's also noted in the article that he played a total of 100 minutes in two seasons with Atlante. http://www.mediotiempo.com/futbol/mexico/noticias/2011/12/14/landin-se-puso-la-del-puebla
Landin has just scored his first goal of the season. How do I know this? He scored it against the team that discovered and made him into a scoring threat earlier in his career, Pachuca. I $^@#^ING HATE HIM!!!!!
Well he didn't really score...the ball kinda crashed into him while he was on the floor trying to catch his breath from running 3 yards.
