News: Our president Luca Baraldi has stepped down, in the middle of the Gilardino negotiations, no less. The article at the end of this post says he resigned for personal reasons and the club thanks him for all the work he's done.

Rumor: With Baraldi gone, Carmignani's days are numbered as head coach, though he's likely to go back to his role as coach of the Primavera.

Rumor: The Gazzetta di Parma reports that an unnamed Italian-Swiss magnate will buy Parma in the next few days. If this is true it should happen quickly, as it would be the true motivation for Baraldi's resignation. Also, this new owner wants to be in charge of the Gilardino negotiations. Would make sense, but we'll have to see.

Rumor: The new owner wants Zeman for coach.

Zeman. Hmmm. Need a few more offensive players. Here's a link about it:

An expected side-effect of the club purchase - Swiss players at Parma. Central defender Antonio Solvedilla, currently at Espanyol, is a primary target.

In other news, Parma and Fiorentina have exchanged keepers on loan for next year - Frey to Fiorentina and Lupatelli to Parma. Not a good switch for Parma, but I suppose Frey leaving was inevitable.

The article that SueB posted also says that the new ownership, which won't become official until June 30 (I still don't quite believe it-- too good to be true) would try to keep Gilardino.

    WOW!!!

I would sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much rather see Alberto Gilardino stay at Parma than join AC Milan.

Gilardino & Shevchenko...thats FANTASY football pairing, it would be unfair to the rest of the league, thats if ever i saw one and UNSTOPPABLE force!!!

    And here's the obligatory denial:

Parma: denial of any agreement for the passage of ownership to the Swiss...
...if anything's gonna happen it'll happen by June 30...

The sale to Rialto Holding seems to have collapsed:

All this uncertainty, as well as the coaching position and the Gilardino situation surely can't help Parma as they head into what could be another difficult season.
