Excellent news. I hope he gets the opportunity to start next to Gibbs. Before Cory was hurt, they were my fantasy back line against skill teams. It will be interesting to see if Gibbs is fully recovered and to see how MP does in a 442 with a talented partner.
I'd rather see him paired with Neven Subotic (if he stays in the US player pool). With Subotic at 6'4", Parky can manage the ground and be the general in the back. Besides, when we play the big boys, we are going to need a scoring threat from the backline on set pieces.
I'm looking for the link, but I swear I read that Subotic has decided to play with Serbia instead of the US. I found the link http://www.goal.com/en/news/1059/serbia/2008/11/15/966084/subotic-chooses-serbia-ahead-of-usa
Another article from July of this year saying there will be no decision until 2009 when he turns 21. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=557869&25&cc=5901
