Hopefully it goes like 2008, where we had the original Mascherano (Checho Batista) in charge, but even he couldn’t ******** things up with the roster we had. Hopefully… Edit: just saw Rattlehead’s comment.. seems we’re on the same page!
Yes, hence its s a good thing to have Enzo, Julian, Emi and Otamendi. Their experience can cover Batista 2.0 incompetence, at least half of it lol.
On paper we should have a pretty stacked side and should compete for a medal. We will have a easier path to the medal rounds if we win our group and the favorites do the same. A part of me wishes that Scaloni just decides to manage this group. El Loco had that task in 04, he won it, then stepped down(The most Bielsa thing ever, granted his contract was ending after the Olympics but still).
According to German Carrara, Mascherano is crazy to have Messi in the Olympic squad. Will be very difficult to see Messi in the Olympics though, even more with the inclusion of Alvarez. I hope Juve let Soulé go to this tournament. But they want to sell him for whatever reason, so that may cause a problem. I guess Juve is in need of money. Matías Soulé in the 23/24 season (U21 players in the Top 5 Leagues):- Successful dribbles: 2nd (102)- Shots attempted: 2nd (83)- Goals: 4th (11)- Key Passes Made: 1st (84)On loan at a relegated club, fair to say he impressed. Would be a great option for #NUFC at RW. pic.twitter.com/VnXM03MER2— TomTalksToon (@TomTalksToon) May 31, 2024 But nevertheless, Soulé should just go the Olympics. This isn't that difficult.
Then Soule should be called up for the Copa if he can't make squad along with Dybala and drop the dead weight like nico, pazella.
Woiski is like Icardi in a way. Another one raised entirely abroad and also plays as a central nine with great acceleration off the mark and where to run off defenders and into space. He's also extremely prolific. Won the Copa del Rey youth Cup with Mallorca. I wonder if Lionel S knows about him as he's a resident of the island too.
Garnacho has been refused permission to go to Paris and that is likely the case with Enzo too. Not the manager's input but the owners. They should both still go as has been said before no one can lock them up in a room with guards outside.

Best XI so far if I assume all of the call ups Masche made for u23 friendlies next week are also confirmed in: Brey Lujan Di Cesare Otamendi Barco Varela Equi Echeverri Beltrán Alvarez Almada
France announced their Olympic Squad and no signs of the likes of Mbappe, Griezmann and Saliba 🇫🇷👨🏫 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 | Thierry Henry announced his France squad for the Olympics... I have not searched any info on the matter but has Masche looked at calling up Paz? I know he wanted him during the Sub 20 Mundial but Madrid said no for whatever reason. I’d like to see him to be called up because he was one of the bright spots when we managed to fail in qualifications for the U20s
The olympic squad should be this + the overaged players, Barco and maybe Carboni (would be weird to get a call up for the senior team but not for the U23).
Maybe Buonanotte too? He had said he would travel even if Brighton didn’t authorize it. I’m assuming he didn’t join them for these friendlies but is in consideration for the tournament roster
It's rather strange that we got reports of Barco being given thumbs up by the club but nothing about him. Maybe he's simply not in consideration? His performances haven't been great this season.
IMO the squad should be something like this: GKs: Brey and either Dibu or a youth keeper. DF: I think Di Cesare, Lujan, Otamendi and Barco are all almost certain. Probably one more CB to be added (Amione?, Garcia?, Lomonaco?). Surprised to see Valentin Gomez out. MF: Varela, Equi are the only two 100% sure. Then it's quite open... Medina, Nardoni, Zenon, Hezze. In a more offensive role it should be between diablito, Carboni and Buonanotte (if he's indeed considered). Surprised to not see Redondo in the squad but he got injured again the other day. FW: Julian, Beltran and Almada are 100% going. Soule a question mark right now. Probably Gondou or Castro for a substitute CF. Maybe Messi? hopefully not god awful Solari

Dibu taking a proactive stance, saying he wants to play in the Olympics and will fight with Aston Villa to release him if necessary
Sounds like something that Lautaro needed. A moment in training that will makes him more nervous in real game
