Today we went to Boston's Pizzaria Reggina - excellent. North Side of town, not the best atmosphere, service, or bathrooms. The pizza, pepperoni/canadian bacon was excellent. Which reminds me, why can't we get Canadian Bacon in Connecticut?
Y'all are a riot! Seriously! Read the thread title, and you'll understand that it is necessary to mention which places to avoid, as well as which to enjoy. About the bad pizza: my neighbor had just heard that my dad died suddenly 2 1/2 weeks ago, and thought that a homemade pizza was called for (instead of the traditional meatloaf or casserole, I guess). I think tomato soup on bread with Velveeta would have tasted better. I had to toss it out the side of the house that doesn't face her house. Deer, groundhogs, and squirrels (amongst other woodland creatures) are often in my yard, and from the scat, I'm guessing that Bambi scarfed down the pizza. I have never been violated by a napkin! That being said, we had pizza from a place called "M-mm, M-mm, Pizza!" last week - white pizza with spinach, onions, mushrooms, and mozerella. Yum!!
Sorry to hear about your dad. But pizza is always good for what ails me. Leftover BBq and a slice of cheese
Meaning no disrespect to my dad, of course... Don't get your shorts in a knot! It was terribly cathartic to read the way this thread was going, and it was one of the best laughs I've had in, well, 2 1/2 weeks! Now that I think about it, I'm glad she made pizza instead of meatloaf. If she messed up pizza that bad, her meatloaf may have killed me! Back on topic: I've had the BBQ pizza, with chicken (and maybe bacon bits?). It's pretty good. It's like cheeseburger pizza or white pizza - you have to be in the right mood, but when you are, yum!
Hey I take umbridge with your remark - this not for laughs, this is serious business- pizza business. Pizza is my life
-Sea Delico pizza at Uno's is my favorite. -Thai Chicken pizza at Boston's is pretty good. -Does anyone know the name of the spicy chicken pizza at CPK? Anyway, it's good. For NY style I go to Al's Pizzeria in Dallas. I had it for lunch today. Brother's Pizza on Montfort & 635 in Dallas is good.
Re: Best pizza. Three Brothers in Rockville, MD, has, I believe, gone back to its previous name of "Paisanos". At least the one on N. Hungerford Dr., near Courthouse Square, has. My vote goes to Luigis, Harrisonburg, VA. It's probably the one thing about the town itself that I miss most since graduating from JMU.
Geo's in the near suburbs of Chicago is really good. Frank's on Belmont is good. Nothing special, but good 'za. We go there because it's close to my grandma's house whenever we are there.
Okay, just had cheeseburger pizza from Mm Mm Pizza, in Pittsburgh's South Hills. I've found a new favorite pizza place!
I should mention that I made it to the famous Naples Pizza of Farmington, CT this past weekend, and while I usually avoid slices like the plague (too often they're old slices, warmed up and tasteless), the basil, tomato and garlic slices were pukka. That and a bottle of Foxon Kola were a bit pricey, but it was worth it, just to ogle the waitresses for a bit.
Michael, Oogling is definitely an option at Naples. WOW! Makes me hungry just thinking about the place.
Can't believe we let this drop. Okay did I mention Pizzaria Reggina in Boston? Had pizza at some cafe in Denver. Cafe Pizzaria or something just off the 16th Street Mall.
Pizza scenario: You are ordering a slice (or 2) and there is clearly one slice that looks particularly good. Do you... a. always point out the pizza slice you have your eye on. b. sometimes do sometimes don't c. take what they give you - a slice is a slice. It seems like the person behind the counter should know enough to grab the best one, but I have noticed they often don't.
I will point out my slice most times. The guys are usually thinking "if no one comes, I'll get that great slice!"
Panic, how come no more pizza updates? I'm back in Seattle, and missing CT and NYC pizza. If only there was a decent slice out here. Anyway, today the New York Times had a good article on NYC Pizza: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/06/dining/06PIZZ.html
