Just finished watching the Domenica Sportiva (For those of you that don't know what it is: it's basically an italian show that covers every soccer game of the week)

Anyways they interview Ancelotti about Paloschi's talent. Here's my English translation about what he said..

"He doesn't possess one true great skill, but rather has amazing timing, poise, and understands the game of soccer incredibly well for his age."

Does this remind you of any other AC Milan great? I hope they don't lend him out next season, he's the new mr. 1 goal per game.

it's true, he has very good movement and instincts even though his touch and skills are nothing to write home about. Very unlucky not to have 2 goals today in less than half an hour.

He was born in Bergamo. 100% Italian.

    Alberto Paloschi.

The way you pronounce the name sounds like a Slavic name.

This s is true to a point but the "IS" is kind of common as there are many surnames with that ending.........I know of Caligaris & my great great grandma's name was I believe De Angelis.....

I know, what I meant is that they don't sound like your typical Italian names to foreigners.

There's actually a region in Italy (friuli/veneto) where most the last names finish in "in". Such as Padoin, Guidolin.. etc

    what about sardinian surnames? :D

virdis, piras, cuccureddu, puxeddu, cois, giannichedda, cossu, mancosu, sirigu ... just to mention players... there are many more "extravagant" ones.

the reason for this is... they are all sardinian terms.

well, zola doesn't sound that "strange", but it's a sardinian surname.

matteoli for example is a common italian surname.

At onetime, names meant something not always but a lot did.....Zola isn't too common though as it sounds more unique........Matteoli could be derived from aword.....not sure which word....it sounds more typical, however.....

Well, as a neutral observer, I've been impressed with Paloschi's play with Milan so far. Already looks better than Gilardino.
