Palmeiras 2-1 Revs http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/news/press_releases/fullStory_254.asp Palmeiras comes back to win the the 89th minute. Leonard scores, JMM gets one called back. Scoring: Marshall Leonard - 73 Everaldo - 82 Reinaldo - 89
Anyone notice that the amount of information coming out of this preseason camp has improved since we lost our Director of Communications? I know a lot of people liked Jurgen Mainka, but, the information flow has drastically improved......
Am I reading the lineup sheet right? Buhlmann only in for 12 minutes....hope he is not injured. Revolution lineup: Adin Brown (Matt Reis 46'), Jay Heaps, Shalrie Joseph (Daouda Kante 46'), Rusty Pierce, Joe Franchino, Steve Ralston, Leo Cullen (Christian Uribe 46'), Daniel Hernandez (Kevin Jackson 82'), Brian Kamler (Patrick Buhlmann 46', Marshall Leonard 58'), Wolde Harris (Taylor Twellman 46'), Joe-Max Moore.
Jackson played for Revs assistant coach Matt 'Haggis' Driver with the South Jersey Barons. As for the info flow, technology has a lot to do with it. Last year at Aguas de Lindoia was like being in the Dark Ages. Thank goodness for small things - sounds like it's been brawl-free this time around. Nomar who?
Sounds like the Rev Offense is starting to ramp up. Lots of shots hitting the post or near misses. As preseason and fitness improves these will be goals. I'm soooo please to read JMM's name in a rev boxscore again.
Might not be fair to assume it has to do with Jurgen being gone. Like anything that happens with professional players, ya gotta think this was suggested and set up a while ago. (course, then again, I am making an assumption)
I tried to find out who this was last weekend, but didn't have long. I saw somoene named Kevin Jackson from Lehigh who was drafted by Chicago in the 6th round a few years ago (I think the Pierce draft). Could this be him? Ahem. The newspapers mentioned that Leonard got tossed along with a rival player for getting into a scuffle. Somehow, that didn't make it into the revolutionsoccer.net report...
From what I can tell, we have 1 open roster spot and 1 SI slot, and less money now that Carlos has signed. Team needs would point to the likelyhood that a central midfielder to replace Nowak. If this is true, then Buhlmann would have to join the team in place of Griffiths, who probably has lower salary requirements as an advantage.
FDA reported that Bulhmann and Ralston suffered leg bruised, and it seemed to imply that Bulhmann came out of the game after his injury.
With Nicol calling in an Argentine midfielder, it certainly looks like none of the trialists has knocked his socks off yet.
I'm not sure it says anything more than it a time of year for auditions. A smart coach keeps his options open until it necessary to make the final choice. SN seems to have a very clear idea what he's looking for. His fine tuning so far has my attention. It will be interesting to see how he uses the final roster slot(s).
Maybe FC told him it might not be wise to target only one player and expect him to sign with the league with no hitches. Even if he really likes Uribe, haven't there been blurbs here and there about who owns his rights?
Did the REVs play their TF3-squad? Palmeiras played yesterday for the Paulista Championship with the line-up: Palmeiras: Marcos; Neném, Gustavo (Leonardo), Dênis (Correa) e Marquinhos; Adãozinho, Magrão, Claudecir e Zinho (Muñoz); Pedrinho e Anselmo. Of the three players mentioned in the Revolution report. I could find on palmeiras.com.br only the goalkeeper Diego who is their 3rd stringer (20 yo). Of the players mentioned by Gus: Indio is a veteran, trying to get back, and Adalto is on the website.
Re: Did the REVs play their TF3-squad? And the point is........the Rev's didn't play Palmerias' first choice team? Or did they not use their best group to try and win the Paulista Championship? Or what?
no, but i cannot stand the hype "top Brazilian team" when they are not playing the real team. BTW, Indio has a interesting history, he is a real Indian (Native-Brazilian(?)) that grew up in a Reservation. He was in the A Team that played today.
Moacir makes a very important point. Rarely, if ever, do US teams play the "A" team, whether we are talking internationals, clubs friendlies, etc. But it is also important to remember that outside MLS most first division teams carry between 25 and 30 seasoneded professionals, some of whom are geezers and some of whom are kids. But they are all hardbitten pros. Matching up a Downing, Joseph, Leonard or Noonan vs. a 19 year old Brasilian kid who has five years of pro training and reserve games under his belt is no contest. Plus it is a very important step in the learning curve. So while Moacir is right, we ain't playing the first eleven, we are playing very high quality opposition and everyone is going to benefit from it in the long run. I suspect if you were to ask any of the MLS guys who played Argentina's second team two weeks ago if it was an important learning experience they would agree. Crawl before walk, walk before run, etc. I think the Rev are very smart in doing this and belive that these Brasilian trips are worth a hundred Florida combines. We can criticize the Krafts for a lot of things but I, for one, am extremely grateful that they are underwriting these advanced level, courses in futbol for our lads. JIM DOW
Exactly Exactly. Just don't hype it to be more than actually it is. No doubt that the experience is quite superior than playing U-17 and College kids in Florida.
