Where do they play their home games?

 

Do they ever play friendlies with Israel?

 

I wonder if both Palestinian footie players and Israeli players are required to wear bulletproof vests.

Wouldn't be surprised if either team's strikers went for goal after popping a cap in the goalies' a-ss.

 

I read a while back they were recruiting Palestinian players from South America (Chile, I think)...guess they've put together a decent team. Who's their next opponent?

the next game against Kuwait will be played in Jordan due to the political situation in Palestine. The Palestinian team have 3 players from Chile. and to qualify for the final round we need a tie, of course we wil have more than a tie on June 7 against Kuwait, since Jordan will be a true home game for us.

 

Might have something to do with AFC nations refsuing to play Israel for over a decade, rendering a lot of FIFA qualifying events in the region useless.

 

Of course Israel can't even play in their own country because of the political situation there. And you thought Ali Sami Yen was scary. It's a good thing Israel is in UEFA, but not good enough to make it to inter-confederation competition or else we would have a lot of boycotts, etc. I remember Korea beat Israel in the Asian Cup Final a while back, although I don't understand what the political situation must have been then - Israel had to have played a Muslim country in order to get to the final though I'm not too sure if they did.

 

No Arab country was willing to play Israel. Israel qualified for the Asian Cup Final 1956. In 1960, Iran was the only Muslim country willing to play them. I might be wrong Pakistan might have played against them.

Anyway, the Arab teams did not participate in soccer tournament. Israel qualified for Mexico 1970. Starting in 1978, the Arab began to play in the WC. Back then, Australia also played in AFC. In 1986, Israel moved to Oceania.

For your information, the 1950's was the height of Egyptian President Nasser's pan-Arabism. It was also at an era when the Palestinians believed their Arab brothers would fight for their plight. The Suez War was fought in 1956.

That's right. The Baba brothers are Palestinians as well, but they are cap-tied to the US. They both retired. One is, I believed, a PE teacher.

 

I hope the Palestinian NT can qualify. The people in Palestine go through tough times and have been driven into poverty and oppression and maybe their NT going to the Olympics can give them a small bright spot in their lives.

Anyway, it is cool that they have an American on their squad!

Not everyone supports Hamas. Not all Palestinians support terror. Not every Palestinian is a terrorist, it is only a select few that are. Your claim is absolutely ridiculous, espicially since Mazen and even Arafat who isn't exactly a great guy hates Hamas.

The truth is that Palestine is an oppressed place where the people aren't free because Israel is occupying them. I certainly don't support terror, but I don't support Israel either.

I am rooting for Palestine to at least qualify for the Olympics. Anyway, they have an American, and you have to root for Americans.

 

Soccer isn't supposed to be political. I never hold any malice towards another country's team for political reasons- the way I see it, that team represents every fan of that nation, with all of their contrasting views.

In the same way, the US team is supported by people of immensely contrasting views. I think it would be unfair for people that dislike actions of the American government to hate the US national team.

This is what is so great about national teams- even though governments sometimes attempt to exploit them as respresentatives of their particular regime (i.e. Italian national team under Mussolini) these teams truly represent the passions of the people.

 

the funny part is that the Palestinian "leaders" like Mahmoud Abbas do not have the power to do that because the Israeli gov. confiscated the firearms from them. Abbas only can persuade the extremest groups like Hamas through talking. Palestine does not have the power to rout the terrorists and the Israelis should know that better. Personally, I feel sorry for ppl like Abbas. They're the ones who are working to bring peace and yet they don't have anything.

Anyhoo, I really hope the Palestinian NT performs great to give hope to its people.

 

Talk about ignorance. If Palestine is such a "terrorist state" then why is their leader (Mazen) totally against terrorism? I bet you don't even know that the PLO is even against all of those terrorist groups.

Also, the Israelis kill three times the amount of innocents that Palestinian terrorists kill. Defend that. Oh wait, you probably consider all Palestinians to be terrorists. Damn, so people are just so ignorant.

I am not even a liberal, I support Bush, I supported the war, but I also know that Israels actions aren't justified.
