After 2 matches Palestine stand high and mighty in first place in Group 2. They thrashed Taiwan 8-0 and followed that up with an impressive 1-1 tie against their biggest competition in the group- Iraq.

    Palestine 4Pts +8GD
    Uzbekistan 4pts +1 GD
    Iraq 2pts 0 GD
    Taiwan 0 Points -9 GD

Can anyone give a reson why Palestine will not advance to the next stage??
Uzbekistan could only manage a 1-0 win over a Taiwan squad Palestine beat 8-0. In addition, Palestine has not feilded a full strength squad yet Emad Ayoub did not play in either match and Facundo Sava is set to make his Palestine debut June 9th. How far do Palestine go in the tourney?

Without stability in Palestine where does the national team train? And do most of the players play in Middle Eastern clubs? Also I forgot how Sava got Palestinian citizenship.

Palestinian national team have many difficulty to train, its divided into player from Gaza, player from west bank, other playe in arab league, and some in chile. the worst think is that they cant train together. to train as a team the player from west bank have to go to Jordan, and the one from gaza travel to egypt, after that they meet with the rest of the players in egypt or any other country, to train befor the game. so its not an ideal situation, thats why we are very proud of these guys.

here anice article about the team

I write to you from Al-Quds, Jerusalem, on our third day here. After the incredible victory of Team Palestine over Taiwan 8-0 in Doha, we traveled to Amman, Jordan for a night there and then traveled to Al-Quds by land.

The trip has been amazing. After the game against Taiwan the team separated into five groups, the Syrian players, the Lebanese players, the Chilean players, the players from Gaza, and the players from the West Bank. Everybody went home from Doha. Carlos and I traveled with the West Bank players this time.

Sava is of Palestinian descent. The team includes a number of foreign-born players, mostly Chilean (Chile has a large Palestinian population), and speaks primarily Spanish on the field and in training.

The goalscorer against Iraq, Roberto Kettlun, is one of the Chileans; others include Roberto Beshara and Francisco Alam. Also in the squad are Argentine-born Roberto Abdala and American-born Shaker Asad (formerly of the New England Revolution).

A number of Middle Eastern countries have discovered that Latin America is a good place to search for players of Arab descent. Lebanon started the trend by fielding three Brazilian-born players at Asian Cup 2000, all three of whom had Lebanese parents or grandparents. This makes Qatar's outrageous attempt to naturalize Ailton and Dede even more ironic - Troussier probably could have found someone in South America with a Qatari grandparent if he'd actually bothered to look.

There was an article that the Palestine national team has requested the services of Argentine player Dario Hussain. Hussain has played for the National team of Argentina, although not on a regular basis. I think the Palestinians have an excemption to the rule that they cannot use a player who's played for another country. But he is a veteran who'd be an excellent addition to their team.

How good is Uzbekistan if they only beat Taiwan 1-0? You cant just say Taiwan had a bad day, a bady is 4-0 maybe 4-0 but not 8-0. Uzbekistan will not win this group the top two teams are Palestine and Iraq hands down and that is who it will come down to.
