I like your thinking…but I’m struggling to understand why he would have delayed from July 11th to September if that’s the case. And I didn’t recall it having anything (or much) to do with the immunity case. What was he waiting to be resolved that he thought warranted delay? I honestly can’t remember.
IIRC it was delayed so the parties could consider the implications of the Supreme court decision. i will double check.
I think it was specifically related to witnesses/documents that might be excluded under the whole "President can Seal Team 6 anyone he wants" ruling that came down and if that would merit a retrial or something.
I have no idea if I understand this correctly….but I believe only a couple of hours ago the SCOTUS clerk docketed the ruling sending the J6 case back to the DC circuit. They then took less than an hour to send it back to Chutkan. Is that fast for this type of stuff? Given what I’ve painfully learned over the last 4 years….it seems everything is slow in federal courts. But this seemed really really fast….almost like the DC circuit is sending am FU message to SCOTUS Maybe I’m wrong and reading too much into the timing NEW — Trump federal Jan. 6 case is now back in Judge Chutkan’s jurisdiction, per remand order from the DC Circuit and the Supreme Court pic.twitter.com/iweOLh81fy— Hugo Lowell (@hugolowell) August 2, 2024
No? There really isn’t anything new for the appeals court to do. It’s now up to the defense and prosecution to file motions about what they think the SCOTUS ruling means, for Chutkan to make her ruling, and then, in all likelihood, for it to go back up the chain.
Chutkan already back at work NEW: Judge Chutkan has set an Aug. 16 hearing to consider the schedule for Trump’s criminal case. She has denied his motion to dismiss on legal grounds but says he can refile once immunity issues are resolved. pic.twitter.com/EAtFRspkwV— Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) August 3, 2024
I’ve seen quite a few accounts echo this today This motion reeks of tension between Jack Smith (wanting to move fast) and AG Garland (who is very careful and cautious). At the expense of delaying or avoiding entirely a factual hearing pre election. https://t.co/kV2a1QJ2xq— Andrew Weissmann (weissmann11 on Threads/Insta)🌻 (@AWeissmann_) August 9, 2024 I’ll defend garland here. I thought the entire purpose of a special counsel is that the decision making is supposed to be independent of the politically appointed Garland. I would be very surprised if Garland is crossing that line and trying to influence Smith. If this is true….Garland is even worse than everything I’ve ever said about him.
Dear Judge Merchan Trump says he'll flee to Venezuela if he loses the election and invites Elon to visit him pic.twitter.com/z0gvN6ugI7— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) August 13, 2024 Something you may wish to consider when determining if he should remain free on appeal.
Good luck with that? Lol. His clearance pretty much guarantees that there are only a few countries that he can visit and definitely can’t live outside the US.
I’m not sure what you mean here. Typically…when convicts flee justice to other countries…particularly countries that don’t have extradition agreements with the United States….they don’t seek pre approval from the US government before leaving.
I guess he feels that because Venezuela has sent all the "bad people" here, he now wants to live in a country he regularly demonizes. Surely it couldn't be that he was just lying about Venezuela all along!
Money? Power? Having complete control over someone who has near complete control over one of the two political parties of your adversary? I don’t know why Venezuela wouldn’t let him in.
The real question is his life expectancy in Venezuela-- would his heart give out during "debriefing" or would it be the rooftop tour afterward?
Plus it's a win for Maduro to show how bad America is. I mean for propaganda purposes. I honestly see him fleeing to Russia. He will refuel in KSA and go to Moscow.
It would be a valuable civics lesson for him. Perhaps…for the first time in his life…hell understand why the rest of us value things like the rule of law, due process, judicial and prosecutorial independence. Living at the whims of a totalitarian regime is only fun when you’re the totalitarian. He’ll eventually learn that once he’s no longer of value to the regime that hosts him…he’s a dead man. And he will be powerless. That’s as close to hell as I imagine his mind could stand.
I feel like it's going to be that or he's going to be facing jail and he rat out everyone and anyone he ever worked with.
He can be very coherent in court. To save his ass, he will tell you how they strong armed Kennedy to what he gave Ivanka
