so how we feeling after this game Vanney gets a reprieve from the hot seat are the Galaxy turning the corner on the season or is this just a small bump on the road to being at the bottom of the league as for me I'm still in limbo, I didn't see anything that tells me things are trending upwards but I didn't see things that tell me its going to get worse, it feels like this team is going to continue to be inconsistent and the best we can hope for is an average team with glimpses of improvement but nothing to show that they're will be steady improvement in the team going forward.
Ties on the road are good if you win the home games. But we aren’t… so 11th in the WC is what we got. We need to go on a run of home wins if we want a shot at the playoffs. We also need to keep guys healthy…..
Improbably a virtually identical play and outcome occurred this week in an NBA post-season play-in game. After a rough collision Charlotte’s tumbling LaMelo Ball grabbed Miami’s Adebayo ankle causing him to fall awkwardly and miss the rest of the game due to injury. Deprived of their best player Miami lost by 1 in OT and their season ended. After a post-game review Ball received a $35,000 fine for a retroactive flagrant foul 2—tripping Adebayo—and $25,000 for using profanity in a postgame interview, Here is hoping the MLS powers do the right thing and follow up with a similar punishment. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48496840/sources-nba-probing-ball-play-adebayo-heat-hornets
We’re a mess so I take 4 points on two road games in mls play as progress. Any result on Wednesday is positive too. But it’s all meaningless if we don’t win vs RSL (and they are good) next weekend. My question is if, after all this fixture congestion is over, is there a squad of 15 or so guys that can play 95% of the minutes and win games? I don’t see that Greg has any idea. I don’t see a central midfield or defensive unit that I have confidence in. I don’t see a goalie.
And it really is our home form that has us so far down the standings. We’ve played 4 home games and 4 road games with 4 points at home compared to 5 points on the road.
That was … an odd game. We should have won. We should have lost. We played horribly. We played ok. We got a DP back on the field. We lost a DP. Teams ahead of us lost points, teams behind earned points. Dickens I ain’t.
We still need a serious long term forward and an actual center attacking midfielder but I don't think Vanney is in the clear just yet despite this lack. He has in my estimation 18 points by July to go still to save his job.
I wish I could double rep this for the poetry lol. It really is the Best & Worst of Times to be a Galaxy fan lol.
Ruiz's newsletter has some interesting thoughts on how we started in a 3-4-3 (Nelson-Yoshida-Garces) and it was a total disaster and we got better when we reverted back to a 4-3-3. Woth seeking out. Some thoughts from Doyle: Sporting on a record pace (derogatory), Gil still running the Revs & more | Matchday 8 5. Also showing progress: the LA Galaxy, who got Joseph Paintsil back, got a goal and assist from him, and got a point after rallying back from 2-0 down with a 2-2 draw in Frisco against FC Dallas. The assist was just Paintil on the wing, drawing the defense to him and making the right play. The goal, though... Post by @didlc:tjvo32l37yduf3hq2wifq7et — Bluesky (this is a link to Painstil's goal on Bluesky which I guess you can't embed here yet) What makes Paintsil special isn't just his speed, but his understanding of how and when to apply it. Both Galaxy goals came against a packed-in Dallas defense that was determined to keep things in front of them, but couldn't. “In those low-block defending moments, your mentality has to be disciplined, together and committed on every play,” Dallas head coach Eric Quill said afterwards. “On the two goals, we had numbers behind the ball. It wasn’t about being outnumbered. It was little details that changed the game, and we know those moments can’t happen.”
I couldn't watch the game live, but fully expected to get beat here and the goals we did score were quite nice. Could be signs of life for the Galaxy and a point toward Vanney holding on to his job. Which as much as I want Vanney out I will not object to him staying if we make to the WC break parked in one of the playoff spots.
Highlight Time Folks I am glad we got something out of this one especially our players walking out of the game with no red cards and no injuries that will keep them out long term. Pending the results of Klauss of course. We need to take this momentum into the next game this Wednesday because we are going to be tested for depth again. Onward My G's!!! ONWARD!!!
Similar to the tail end of last season, the difference was Paintsil, who delivered a goal and assist to tie the match. Otherwise, it was a "vintage" Vanney performance: totally crap the bed with the starting formation and tactics then sorta figure things out in the 2nd half and rally. The first goal from Yoshida's flubbed back pass is kinda symptomatic of this team. This is one of your veterans and captain making this mistake in the early minutes of the game. Simply shouldn't happen.
Proof that the Vanney plan is working! Quick, let's get him to re-up to 2035 before he gets away!! (I know that is not your view Trick! Just lamenting AEG's decision-making re Teflon-Greg. )
well this aged like milk. Makes me wonder who is running the medical staff and maybe they shouldn't be. Greg went with the information he was given, so can't blame him here but we seem to always get incorrect information on players, Klauss in this instance and of course everything that has happened to Puig since his first injury
I think that our (the fans) lack of knowledge about player injury status is some combination of HIPAA regulations and the distribution of news via press conferences. Clearly the league doesn't care if the fans are informed or not. In fact if it might negatively impact attendance, they may not want player injury status posted.
I'm not sure its a HIPPA issue, other sports don't seem to have this problem, hockey is notorious for stating injuries during the playoffs are either an upper body injury or lower body injury. I'm fine with them not disclosing the exact injury but the prognosis swing from one extreme to the other is what I have an issue with, going from a slight knock be back soon to surgery and out months is ridiculous. I 100% agree with you that the league does not care about the fans being informed and good point that this type of thing can impact fan attendance and I think fan engagement overall, we see this uproar when Messi is scheduled to play, then for some reason he doesn't and people are in an uproar.
