would be in the final. We’re on the other side of the bracket with Seattle and Puebla. but we gotta take care of business first.
Yup. Seattle will be heavily favored in their match. So we could have another Seattle at Galaxy semi-finals if both teams advance.
Loving Cuevas. We're actually pretty solid without a lot of $$$ at left and right back. Nelson/Aude and Yamane/Cuevas Center back, on the other hand.....
Id say sounds like I missed a "banger" but considering how completely one sided the game was even in the highlights, doesn't sound like it was even a game. Glad we pulled it off, happy for Joe and Nasci, and Yoshida, even if his 2nd goal was pure accident. Cuevas though...Vanney for the love of god start his ass! I still think we can keep Yamane, switch to a friggin Back 3 and have Yamane as the 3rd CB ala Aj Delagarza style (aka smaller guy who can cover wide if need be but can also serve as a slightly forward almost extra dmid). Cuevas is so good out wide.
I feel that Also, considering how many chances wasted, as much as I like the kid (Nasci), imagine Dejan up top finishing those chances.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/la-galaxy-flex-title-credentials-with-leagues-cup-quarterfinal-trip I didn't even realize that winning this earns you a spot in the Concacaf Champions Cup. Apparently Leagues cup does have real meaning behind it.
Obviously regular season games mean zero, we play Messi in Miami Aug 16th, literally should send the entire GII team. I wouldn't even put Reuss on the plane. Let's see how Vanney plays it.
Actually, you don't have to win it, you just have to finish top 3 to get an invite to the Concacaf Champions Cup. The finalists and the winner of the third place game (which makes that game more meaningful). https://www.leaguescup.com/about/
Its impacted as well by people qualifying in other ways too is it not? Like if Miami or Seattle won the CCL place based on MLS cup results, would the CCL spot fall further down than 3rd place potentially?
Cuevas could be "better" than Julian in that Cuevas has a specific skillset with his crossing and link up play. Julian is more like a jack of all trades master of none type player with a lot of hustle and fight. Excited.
Not sure about which is the "anchor" or "fixed" qualification spot in that case. I suspect that their qualification in Leagues Cup would mean that MLS can send someone that finished lower down in MLS competition, rather than qualification in MLS meaning that they can choose someone that finished lower in Leagues Cup.
Only if Vanney figures out a way to get Cuevas into the Starting Lineup. Yes I love Miki but I still want him to seriously consider a way to keep both Miki and Cuevas on the field, even if some sort of rotation, but Cuevas needs more minutes damnit.
We play Seattle this Sunday. Trying not to look too much into it. Gotta win the ones in front of us and they do too. My guess is Vanney plays the starters this weekend since he subbed them out and the game is at home. But that next Saturday game in the heat in Miami after travel needs to be flushed, in particular if we play three days later. I’m hoping Miami also flushes this game being at home. Backups v backups anyone? Seattle also plays Saturday on the road in Minnesota. Orlando plays Saturday at home. My guess is that Orlando and Miami play the 19th since they have home games and us and Seattle play the 20th since we travel. Someone is gonna get the short end of the stick. I think Seattle and Toluca get to play “home” as the one seeds? Trying to figure out what Toluca’s home base was… EDIT: they played in NYRB as their “home”
Cuevas isn't as fast as Araujo, but his crossing is alreay way better. Remains to be seen if he can get better at reading the game on defense and gettins stuck in on the tackle, as they say. But his service from the wing is literally worth about 1.5 xG a game.
Yeah, since Leagues Cup is a wonky thing (not all MLS teams compete in it, you don't even play the teams you are competing against in the group stage, Liga MX teams don't really get any true home games, etc.) then I would guess Leagues Cup CCL spots don't trickle down and instead they trickle down within the respective leagues.
