The second half of the season kicks off with a nationally televised game and it's a real barnburner -- 15th in the West LA Galaxy visiting 14th in the West St. Louis City SC. Having broken their winless streak, can the Galaxy win 2 games in a row? And, with the week off, will the team come back healthy with all the players (except for Riqui Puig) available to play? Well, except for Cerrillo who will be serving his second suspension for yellow card accumulation.... We find out Saturday. Let's Go Galaxy!
As a response to protests in LA (& perhaps the team's silence about them), #lagalaxy SG's @ACBrigade & @galaxy_outlawz have canceled their events (viewing parties, away trips) until further notice. https://t.co/M1FGNUVnnJ pic.twitter.com/vxF1T64JRC— El Escudero de LA (@ElEscuderoDeLA) June 11, 2025 Sigh. A new boycott brewing. Guess it’s good we’re away a month. Interesting that LAFC made a statement and its fans made a big statement but we apparently won’t. Personally I think we should but it’s got to be tough to be a sports franchise and have to weigh in on everything or else be judged. This should be a no brainer if only on the demographics of your customers. Not to mention how gross the federal government is purposely being. your mileage may vary of course.
The next two MLS games are close to must-wins. Not for any sort of playoff run, but there aren’t many games remaining against teams in the lower quarter of the table. We need 10 points from 17 games to avoid DC’s worst-ever record of 16 points on the season. Not a tall order, but also three more points than we managed over the first 17 games.
if possible can a math guru, approximate what that might look like in terms of wins, draws and losses or the combo of results that would have the Galaxy reach those 10 points, thanks
Records of 3W-13L-1D or 2W-11L-4D or 1W-9L-7D or better will get us those 10 points! I *think* we will make it. Edit: Another way to look at it - three more wins we almost certainly avoid record for fewest points. With one more win we almost certainly set or tie record. Two more wins, it will be favorable, but still iffy.
This wasn't a response (in part because the question wasn't quite about the substance of the issue itself), but here's Vanney's answer Greg Vanney answering a question on protests and how the players and team are handling that:#LAGalaxy #MLS pic.twitter.com/Fft7K6zx5h— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) June 12, 2025
Kind of the non-answer you would expect given the probable differences between how the owner may feel and how many/most of the fans may feel about this issue.
Has about the same utility as his post-game quotes. All the buzz words are there but little is actually said.
In hindsight I wish they said nothing at all. They somehow managed to do something worse than a canned PR response. Considering how they handled the Chris Klein situation can’t say I’m surprised. This ~is~ was LA
Oh boy. That’s bad. Reminds me of Ms. South Carolina in 2007 fumbling through words to explain why Americans can’t find other countries on a map. Hard to believe they couldn’t train him on what to say? Practice with him?
Reus expected to be available and involved in the game tomorrow. INJURY UPDATE: Vanney said that Marco Reus is back in training and should be involved this weekend. #LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) June 12, 2025
Embarrassing that they expect the coach to handle the messaging and keep themselves insulated from needing to take a stance.
Shoulder to Shoulder ✊ pic.twitter.com/lpAiXvr4Mt— LAFC (@LAFC) June 8, 2025 what part of this type of statement was objectionable to our FO or ownership? seems like such an own goal. Does Phil A have some work or deals vulnerable to federal government interference he was afraid of?
I wondered about Sanabria and Reus (before the tweet I posted earlier), but it turns out Fagundez and Berry are the ones who are out. My guess is we'll see Reus, Sanabria, and Parente in the midfield with Cerrillo out as well as Fagundez. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-player-status-report-matchday-19-saturday-june-14 LA Galaxy Miguel Berry - Thigh (Out) Diego Fagundez - Foot (Out) Riqui Puig - Knee (Out) St. Louis CITY SC Rasmus Alm - Hip (Out) Chris Durkin - Knee (Out) Henry Kessler - Hamstring (Out) Eduard Löwen - Hamstring (Out) Joakim Nilsson - Knee (Out)
I believe this is part of the reason he keeps getting extensions, AEG is no longer fully invested in Galaxy soccer and need a "company" guy to deflect and gaslight as they make money and venture into more unscrupulous behavior. I think Vanney will be gone when he feels like he has accomplished everything he wants or the Galaxy continue to be putrid for longer than 2 years, I think the Championship he fell into last year has prolonged his stay and if he can get the Galaxy deep into the playoffs every other year, I wouldn't be surprised if he has more job security that most of us would envy
Man, what a disappointing year on and off the field for the Galaxy. Frankly it tarnish's what we did last year. Truly an organization that has no soul.

Not going to watch today. I’m not busy— it’s a choice. The poor response from the Galaxy has turned me off of wanting to watch and support today, especially while the rest of the country protests. I know not watching does nothing, but it’s hard for me to accept the absolutely thoughtless response from this organization, especially considering the influence Mexican, Central American, and South American fans have had on this team since 1996. To ignore the plight of those fans in the face of racism and tyranny doesn’t sit right with me. Hope to join you all soon again for a game! If you’re at a protest, be safe!
