Unless there is some secret health issue I’m unaware of I would put this season’s best goalscorer on the field, especially with the 3 Ps missing. Why put out a lineup without a true striker?
Remember when Vanney kept Dejan on the bench or only gave him a couple of 60 minutes when he was being “generous” back in 2023? Nearly everyone on this board was pretty vocal about disagreeing with Vanney. Feels similar in spirit if not execution with Ramirez.
I’d play one of Reus and Fagundez with the other as a sub. Maybe Aude in there as a defensive attacker somewhere. I’d keep Garces out there to learn, but put him farther from my goal so his mistakes matter less. My “tinkerer” comment was just poking fun at Twellman’s comments (I think it was Twellman a few weeks back) and Vanney not changing much but Vanney is doing fine. I’ve got a beer and didn’t have to drive to StubHub or whatever it’s called. All’s good.
If he was resting Ramirez to get minutes for a young player, probably a somewhat ineffective one if you look at our young attackers (although maybe Lepley’s earned his minutes), I’d get it, but for Reus and Fagundez, I don’t quite get it either. At least there won’t be a playoff game where Vanney bench’s Ramirez.
Cuevas!!! A Goal. A real goal! Only the second lead all season according to the broadcasters. That's crazy
Questionable decision by their CB, but Sanabria, Reus, and Cuevas make them pay nicely. Trap game, indeed.
I've been clamoring for Cuevasinho to start, one of the few flankers we've got with speed and creativity. Dunno why he hasn't started other than BOTH our DPs are injured.
Reus assisted both goals. Good to see (highlights are already available at mlssoccer.com) and Cuevas' hustle on that was kinda insane. Diego's goal looked like a horrible breakdown in their defense.
