I suppose we need to have a game thread so we can all suffer together.... Except the good news is that I'll be moving my daughter out of her college apartment this Wednesday so I won't be able to watch the game live and will be watching much later that night - when the ability to fast-forward through any disastrous performance can be achieved. I think Cerrillo is suspended from yellow car accumulation, Paintsil is out and Pec is questionable. Well, the whole team is questionable at this point, but you know what I mean.... Let's Go Galaxy!
I didn't have the heart to watch the last game or even the "highlights", knowing the result. But I'm going to try to take @Benny Dargle 's attitude and watch out of interest for the little things. That said, I'll be out at a meeting Wednesday evening, so I'll be watching later. Maybe.
We are not the only ones with injuries! Per Bradley Carnell, Andre Blake is still questionable for tomorrow against LA Galaxy."He has some fluid build up in the knee."📷: MLS cc: @huitdepique#doop #reggaeboyz pic.twitter.com/CQiGc7Eb9D— José Roberto Nuñez (@JoserNunez91) May 13, 2025
To be fair, with the way we’re playing, they can play without a GK, and we’d still find a way to lose.
A 19 year-old kid - Andrew Rick - will probably be playing in goal if Blake can't play. Rick's a promising young player who played the full 90 on Saturday as the Union tied the Crew 2-2.
No Pec, just in case you still had hope https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/mls-player-status-report-matchday-13-wednesday-may-14 LA Galaxy Joseph Paintsil - Thigh (Out) Gabriel Pec - Hip (Out) Riqui Puig - Knee (Out) Philadelphia Union Ian Glavinovich - Knee (Out) Neil Pierre - Knee (Out) Andre Blake - Knee (Questionable)
In the words of Ed Sheeran, "If this is too end in fire, then we shall all burn together." A tell of two seasons indeed. I See Fire cover by "Boyce Avenue"
I guess we don't play the Union very often From the vault:According to Transfermarkt, the only time Philadelphia have defeated the LA Galaxy was back in 2012—featuring a lineup that included Michael Lahoud (@MikeLahoud), Freddy Adu (@FreddyAdu), the Farfan twins, Amobi Okugo (@amobisays), and Zach MacMath. The Union… pic.twitter.com/dDTVcBJhH3— José Roberto Nuñez (@JoserNunez91) May 14, 2025
The only thing we have going for us is this is a huge trap game for Philly. And that’s really it. Game day!!!
Another positive - we probably won’t lose as badly as last game! Even if we lose 6-0 we can take it as evidence we are improving - I’m sure Vanney will!
last time #LAGalaxy played in Philly was 20183-1 winnersgoals by Kamara, Ibra and Ciani— Damian Calhoun (@DamianCalhoun) May 14, 2025
If this is our lineup, it could be rough Looks like 5 in the back (Cuevas, Yamane, Garces, Yoshida, Nelson), Parente, Wynder, and Sanabria, and Fagundez and Reus I guess playing in the forward positions.

So little ability to make runs/ create space with speed with Reus and Fagundez. Oof. And if I’m Micovic and I can’t see the field on a midweek game after McCarthy let in 7 including one he passed to the other team, I’m on the phone to my agent because I know I’m never seeing the field again. But happy to see minutes for Cuevas and Aude. EDIT:make that just Cuevas.
Ruiz thinks Cuevas is playing wing, making it Vanney's traditional 4-3-3 (although with a bunch of players playing out of position) The LA Galaxy running a lineup with no natural striker in Philadelphia.- No Cerrillo, Wynder, Parente, and Sanabria make the XI- Reus False 9? - Cuevas getting a run at winger most likely#LAGalaxy pic.twitter.com/6yHqDMonL8— Alex Ruiz (@AlxRuiz15) May 14, 2025
This definitely has trap game written all over it. Who wouldn’t be confident playing us let alone given our relative positions.
Okay, what line-up would you use? The majority of last year's stating lineup: Dejan, Paintsil, Puig, Pec, Cerrillo, and Delgado are gone or not available. Fagundez and Rues were part time bench players last year and haven't played nearly as well this year.
