Your tears taste like Sweet Tea with Lemon Coach lol. I hope Greg is having some of them in a nice tall glass on ice lol. Meanwhile,... I knew you could get the job done Vanney! I knew you had it in you!
Highlight Time Folks McCarthy Speaks DeJan Speaks,...I love DJ. We got the keys to your lockdown defense lol!!!
THAT SUCKSSSS!!!! DAMN THE LEAGUE AND THE REFS FOR ALLOWING HIM AND PEC TO GET ABSOLUTELY ABUSED WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT!!!
30 minutes on a torn ACL and got the game winning assist! The man is built different! This is a crying shame!!!
This team appears to be a close knit group. Riqui going down is likely to give them a little extra to play for if there wasn’t enough already.
I just hope it isn't the end of his career. ACL recovery time can be a year. Only 28.5% of American Football players are still active 3 years after an ACL injury per a 2022 study. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35284583/
The average NFL careers is only 3.3 years so Im not sure what to make of those stats. Even if you took a random sample of NFL players you would get some who were nearing retirement or were hanging into their job by a thread. So without a comparison group I’m not sure what the 29% still playing after 3 years means. The article did mention that 93% of qb’s come back (w/o reference to time passage) and only lose 2% of their prior performance, so its not as bleak as it might sound.
Just so bummed that he is gonna miss CCL (and over half of the 2025 season), in addition to MLS Cup this weekend.
Creates a real need for Reus next season from the start, that is for sure. Him and Fagundez can help a lot next year but yeah I hadn't even thought about what a blow this is to CCL
Actually the results are far bleaker because the QB position is less physically demanding both in general and on the knees than other positions. They skew the overall result. But while there isn't a lot of data available, there was a study of the top 5 UEFA leagues and ACL injuries. "Overall, 41 players (80%) returned to play after ACL rupture, with 6 (12%) experiencing a subsequent ipsilateral or contralateral ACL tear. The mean (±SD) RTP time for soccer players after ACLR was 216 ± 109 days (26 ± 18 games). Injured athletes played significantly fewer games and minutes per season and recorded inferior performances for 2 seasons after their injury (P < .001). However, the game performance of injured players equaled or exceeded that of their matched controls by season 3 after injury, with the exception of attackers, who demonstrated a continued decline in performance (P < .001)." https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8165856/#abstract1 If you click in the linked article's discussion section, you will find more interesting information talking about average player age at time of injury and position. I view Riqui's style of play as an attacker more than as a typical midfielder. As such, Riqui is in his peak year at age 25 as attackers peak earlier. In 3 years Riqui will start the season at 27 and turn 28 midseason. Again I hope this is not a career ending injury and one where he can have a quicker more productive recovery than the stats might predict.
This is great! This is somewhat easy content that Appletv ought to be churning out on their MLS Season pass package. But they don't for some reason.
The Galaxy need to win on Saturday so that Riqui’s game winning assist with a torn ACL enters the all-time Galaxy championship lore.
i think he said he knew Frei would step to his left - I take that as he was holding til Frei made his move then cut the ball back against the grain of Frei's movement - that gives Frei's stab at the ball less momentum. There's a really good view of the goal from different angles here - try 2:02-2:04 It shows up really clearly for me https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/spo...to-mls-cup/vi-AA1v3m4c?ocid=socialshare&t=123
