After the final whistle, you could clearly hear someone on a megaphone unleash a “******** you” and then some unintelligible remarks. On the one hand MLS constant push to experiment is to be admired as the home-away format isn’t perfect. But in a quarter century of attempts they have, IMO, failed to deliver anything better. At best it’s been different, at worst it’s been … worse with more experiments falling in the worse column.
Omg another fun game to watch. Life (free time as a parent - what’s that?) has taken over but I read your posts everybody. This team has me hoping. Bad place to be? THREE WEEKS?!?!?!
not a clue but I have heard his last name pronounced Pooge, Puu-tch and the Dodgers a few years back had a player who was announced as Pwig, I guess we will have to wait till someone finds a clip of Riqui saying it himself and to further muddy the waters it seems that the Catalan and Spanish languages pronounce it differently too for me personally I use the "Pwig" pronunciation a lot more than the other pronunciations because I first heard it when watching the Dodger player and more importantly it fits my narrative and memes.
I keep seeing him being referred to as Joseph or Joske. I'm not sure which is his actual name, or if its a Anglicized version of his Ghanaian name, or if its a nickname. but he's been referred to as both. 1820300666813735258 is not a valid tweet id 1852539722591092885 is not a valid tweet id Both the league and Galaxy refer to him in this manner on social media as well
I hope so but I have seen similar things considered "an obscene gesture" I did a basic google search on FIFA rules "According to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), an obscene gesture or offensive action in football is punishable by a red card. " Trying to find MLS Disciplinary stuff https://www.mlssoccer.com/about/competition-guidelines "Parameter 1: Where the Officials Do Not See the Incident, and therefore do not have the opportunity to act, the Committee will review any and all evidence and may act to discipline a player (i.e., an off-the-ball offense)." I have seen players receive red cards after a match is concluded before (e.g. in a previous AC Milan game, Theo Hernandez received a Red Card after the match was concluded, Its not quite clear what it was for, but he has a history of gestures himself) I remember back when I was in high school a high school player did a celebration where he got down on all 4s like a dog and lifted his leg towards the opposing side. If I remember correctly he was given a red card. Its so long ago I don't quite remember. Here is another example: https://tribuna.com/en/news/footbal...e-due-to-obscene-gesture-even-var-intervened/ (This is actually closer to what JMac did)
Kudos to Garces by the way who has stepped in and played super. These CBs are huge for the development of Neal.
Garces is only a year older than Jalen so I can imagine a starting pairing of Neal and Garces either next season or later, depending on Yoshida's contract. Neal is still young, and has had some really really good games himself, just unfortunate he was poor late in the season leading to him being benched for Garces.
Joske is weird. It’s not either a Ghanaian or English root or related to the name Joseph at all. I’ve only heard it used in German speaking countries where it’s a German form of the Polish nickname for John. Why Paintsil is called that must have a story behind it. Was his Belgian club located in Flanders? I'm curious at this point.
You bring up an interesting point. I really haven't looked into until you brought up the possible German, but I also saw it on a Flemish page, could be that region of northern europe. Its kind of hard to separate searches because in some areas its used as a surname, but otherwise it seems to be a dutch/flemish/german (?) version for Joseph. And most search results I found pointed more to surnames. Since he hasn't tried to object to the public use of it, he seems ok with it (unlike Pefok, for example, who publicly stated he prefers Pefok over Sebiatchu for his last name)
And, to state the obvious thing: we do not want to go to penalty shootout with Minnesota... So the business must be taken care of in regulation or extra time!!! Early goal eould really change a lot. Early couple of goals will change everything. It's tough defensive team, but in Vanny we trust !!! Go Galaxy !!!!!!
TrickHog, buddy, could you please already creat new topic for Galaxy - Minnesota game. Emotions are boiling and need the space to come out lol.
https://nl.geneanet.org/voornaam/Joske https://www.babybytes.nl/namen/meisjes/Joske Joske Joske is a Dutch name for boys and girls. The meaning is 'God provides and makes better' The name Joske is most often given to Dutch girls. Although the name has been given to boys 1.1 times, it is mainly a girl's name here, as in other countries.
I think it's "Poodge" (Poozh is probably the most accurate, but it's not a phonetic sound English-speakers are used to making).
Riqui uses the Catalan pronunciation while Yasiel Puig, the baseball player, uses the Spanish pronunciation of Pweeg.
