Discord reminds me of my old IRC days, but both Discord and Reddit can be full of toxicity in their way.
We should start “In Memoriam”s at the end of each year for anyone who quits posting here that year. But that would require work.
Who is our youngest regular poster? They will have to be in charge of this as they will likely be the last one standing (posting).
I actually was a big DC fan from about 2000-2005, before coming to the Galaxy. They had a great team then with players like - Jaime Moreno, Etcheverry, Agoos, Eddie Pope, later Adu was fun to watch, Ben Olsen (great hard working player, even if he became a bit cranky as a manager), Rimando briefly, Bobby Convey, Chris Albright, Christian Gomez (their Juninho and my favorite ), Eskadarian for awhile. I switched from DC To LA in 2007 because DC lost their exciting, skilled, heart-on-their-sleeves players like Moreno and Gomez. I started looking around, was a big Donovan fan (duh) and started watching the Galaxy in 2007. Some lean years at first, but not nearly as depressing as the Klein decade!
It's certainly not me as I was a senior at UCLA when Sigi was a freshman. Being the last poster and mod has a very sci-fi tone to it. Of course there will be AI respondent personalities to keep him entertained. They could even "argue" with each other to give him a sense of purpose and value.
It’s me. In Bizarro World that is. I’m so old my first phone # was 24J. That’s actually true! Well it was my grandparents phone #, and they raised me mostly, so it was mine. And we had a party line. I would pick up the phone and hear my Aunt Trudy gossiping away with Aunt Helen. What‘s that? This is a soccer forum? My bad!
This is a good reminder of how many great players DC had and just how far they've fallen from those first several years of the league. Hated Moreno and Etcheverry because of how good they were.
I feel like I'm probably the youngest, but that makes me sad. I was a soph in high school when the league kicked off in '96.
This popped up in my youtube feed literally today. The nostalgia and the feels. How young everyone was (compared to now)
Oh, Bilgediver, you had me at hello. Love the vid. All the usual suspects, but I have to give a nod to the unheralded Ishizaki—who really came in and filled a lineup hole with his skill set.
