National game vs. an old rivalry. Can we bounce back from the disappointing play on the weekend vs. the new rivalry? Can Vanney get the starting lineup right? Can Vanney get the substitutes right?

    Find out Wednesday night!!!

Will our new midfielder be available? Haven't seen any evidence yet that he has his visa and is training. We've known this guy was coming for like a month now. Is it too much to ask for the FO to have all the paperwork lined up so he could be available right from the start of the transfer window? Not to compare the two local teams but i did note that LAFC had both their new signings available to be selected (bale was not selected but was avaialble) on this past friday's match.

Maybe a visa for a South American is harder then for two Europeans but more likely this just seems like another example of piss poor FO performance.

I think your general point is right, but it is probably somewhat more time-consuming since Brugman was in Spain on loan and has to go back to Uruguay to apply in-person for a visa to come to the US

Is Costa going to be on the bench for this game or still chilling on a bench somewhere? I am trying to think about the possible lineups and if he is available Vanney will all but certainly play him.

    I would start Costa.

    At left out.

    And leave him there.

I would also keep telling him that he's going to come in shortly and keep him warming up the whole game. And then never bring him in.

Although he probably wouldn't get the point.

I'm just tuning in to see if you know who gets a start.

I'd start Costa. Aside from his dumb elbow at the end of the match, it seemed he was playing relatively well. I'm assuming Efra would take the bench if Vanney stays with a 4-4-2.

Costa seems to be good to go against SJ so if the hot-n-cold approach of this team holds true, SJ is gonna get a beating. Apparently Gaston wont be available.

I think the same thing. Plus going out like he did with the suspension means he would not only need to play well but he'd need a goal as well.

I think Vanney said Gaston will be here end of the week but that would be too late for the weekend game so looks like 24th when we host Atlanta.

    My prediction,...
    We start as follows,...

    ----------------Chicha--DeJan
    Grandsir--Raveloson--Delgado--Costa
    Edwards--Williams-----Sega-----Araujo
    ------------------------Bonds

    Subs
    Cabral for DeJan 1st
    Vazquez for Grandsir 2nd
    Efra for Costa 3rd
Sasha or Aguirre for Delgado 4th if needed

We go 4-3-3 with Costa at CAM after DeJan is Subbed

    --------------------Chicha
    Grandsir-------------------------Cabral
    --------------------Costa
    -----------Raveloson---Delgado
    Edwards--Williams-----Sega-----Araujo
    ------------------------Bonds

Costa and Vasquez rotate as CAM when Grandsir is subbed

    --------------------Chicha
    Vazquez--------------------------Cabral
    --------------------Costa
    -----------Raveloson---Delgado
    Edwards--Williams-----Sega-----Araujo
    ------------------------Bonds

If no improvement Costa will be benched for Vazquez at CAM fulltime with Efra out wide

    ---------------------Chicha
    Cabral---------------------------------Efra
    --------------------Vazquez
    -----------Raveloson---Delgado
    Edwards--Williams-----Sega-----Araujo
    ------------------------Bonds

Sasha comes in if a goal is still needed with Aguirre to rest Delgado or Raveloson or both.

Hopefully we score early and hold on to the lead as that will delay the subs.
Let's see if I am inside Vanney's playbook.

I'd be surprised if we see the 4-4-2 with everyone healthy. Listening to his comments after the last game, I think it's clear he doesn't like it because of being outnumbered in CM, which I partially agree with (of course, the remedy for that is the 3-5-2, but alas...). I do think there are matches where the 4-4-2 definitely benefits us, but for this opponent at home we should try to control the game (which is something I think Vanney tries to do too often, when it's not always necessary to win) I wouldn't be averse to resting Javier for this one and starting Dejan as the lone striker.

As for Costa: he played relatively well in the last few minutes of a game where our opponent was conceding lots of space and we were pushing hard for a tying goal with all the momentum. I'm not confident at all in his ability to start, where he'll have to play lots of more defense in a phase of the game that is usually much tighter. Almost every time this guy makes a challenge it results in a foul, if not a yellow card (or red). I think he's best as a super-sub.

I think resting Chich is due and smart. He is not getting any better the longer he starts now. That rest is needed. Let Dejan loose on these people.

No Chich or Delgado in the squad.

Delgado had a pretty cryptic tweet yesterday implying something sad. Hopefully he’s not too injured. I’m kind of tired of learning about injuries only through our lineups and substitutes.
