Felt that @JasonMa had done them all so far, giving him a break at least for one week. Will be interesting to see the response from Moor/Irwin's return. Guessing a standing ovation in announcements and then heckling all game long after that. Not even sure of a line up honestly right now...
I was torn between Ex-Rapids of Canada OR Toronto Maple Leafs (per Altitude)...thought the Altitude reference was funnier!
Sorry for the sidebar, I'm having difficulty looking this up. On MLS Live, are Altitude games blacked-out totally in the Altitude region OR are they blackout for 48 hours like the national TV games are?
Only the 48 hours (give or take, depending on how much the intern at MLS Live is paying attention to the exact time).
Any lineup guesses, especially with Doyle out? I guess Pablo will go mostly with the guys we've seen starting in the first 3 games or whoever is performing well in practice. My best guess would be: ------------------MacMath------------------------ -------------Watts----------Sjoberg--------------- ---Williams------------------------------Burch--- ----------------Azira--------Cronin--------------- ------Pappa------------Powers--------Gashi----- -------------------Badji---------------------------- Maybe Burling gets a look this week? Maybe we see Serna, Pfeffer or C. Doyle sub in? Should be a fun game to watch. I'd bet that Giovinco, Altidore and Bradley will all be playing, not to mention getting to see former Rapids Moor and Irwin. So there should be some entertaining quality on display. I predict a competitive match and I would love to see more goals, so I'll go with a hopeful 2-1 result for the Rapids with goals from Gashi and Badji.
THis looks about right. I would rather see Miller instead of Burch. And Im sure Pablo will penalize some of the guys for playing international ball.
For others like me watching at home it is Altitude 2 (again) however this time there is a pre-match show and a post match show that looks like it goes on forever on my Directv schedule.
Probably the most insulting game preview I've ever read from a opposing newspaper (as opposed to a fan site, where I expect it). http://www.torontosun.com/2016/04/01/perfect-storm-for-toronto-fc-in-colorado I particularly liked this gem: So wait, if our 3 DPs are unavailable then how is Gashi playing again?
0-0 draw. A struggling offense against Clint Irwin and Drew Moor and a pretty good defense so far against an average offense. I just don't see a lot of excitement in this one. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2016/04/colorado-faces-rapids-beyond-wall.html
Just like my "Jason rule", we can mock our team, but nobody else can. (Remember the whole punching Jason in the face thing. I can punch Jason in the face, but I will defend him against anyone else doing it.) Rod.
My biggest concern coming into this game is how the Rapids will generate quality chances and take advantage of at least one of them. And they need to score first rather than attempting to chase the game as they did at San Jose. That simply isn't something they have the attributes for at this time. My gut reaction is should the Rapids score it's going to come from a creative moment from either Pappa or Gashi. Speaking of Gashi, I am wonder if he starts up top? In his usual role on the wing? And what of Poppa? Is he ready for starter's minutes? It would the Rapids need him for a good portion of the game to create solid chances. The other question is who the back line will shape up, particularly at CB? Guess I have lots of questions. Hope the Rapids have some answers - of a positive nature.
Or you could write for the Toronto Sun? ;>) In fairness I think they meant Jones is still suspended, Howard is not here yet, and Doyle has a gash worse than beauty queens give out. That's three pretty good players we expect to have in the stretch down to Just missing the playoffs (Toronto's badge is at the top of that Wiki page) that we won't have for this match. I further assume they just don't do their homework to the point that they remember Gashi, less likely but also possible I suppose that they really do their research and realize having Gashi is fully offset by Badji.
Hopefully the bandwidth gods cooperate and can follow the game. Hopefully Clint and Drew get a warm reception, maybe a chant of "Rapids Legend" as opposed to "Rapids Reject." I'm a fan of the Jason Rule as well
The dickhead Sun writer^^^^pretty much nailed it. Hopefully the Rapids can send them back to the frozen wasteland that is Canuckistan with a loss. Unfortunately they have to do it AGAINST Clint Irwin. Pray for an aggressive, productive midfield this week. 2-1 Rapids. Gashi, Pappa. (i can dream)
