Rapids first morning game of the season. Away to a football team from New York City. Rapids at NYCFC, 11AM Mountain Time, @ the Baseball Ground (Derby County referece). pre game concerns, in game reactions, post game thoughs .... I believe it's on Altitude TV and radio.
Every week, I write the same thing, "Doesn't look good on paper." Once again, I just can't see it. I see the Rapids shut out 3-0.

Tomorrow I try no cap since clearly the first two didn't work. No cap means we tie on the road. Seriously, we came closer to the red bulls that nyfc did. They seem to give up some goals, but it sounds like badji may not play. So, we still get one. They score and price is out. And we seem to have forgotten the basic marking we are all taught at a young age. So, they score more than us and sit back to absorb our massive effort. We lose 2-1 and claim victory because we won time of possession Side prediction. Aigner makes the 18 and sees a few minutes near the end. Nobody passes to him because they haven't bonded enough. Everyone hits the club after the game to celebrate and all is well next week.
I forgot that Price won't be available tomorrow. So the first question is who will be in his place? Martinez? Without Price transitioning from the the defensive third to the offensive third will be interesting. Clearly Nicholson will be integral to the Rapids' ability to generate an attack and let's hope Badji is back. Hard to imagine NYCFC can be held to less than a pair of goals.
3-1 loss, goal by Mason. This will be ugly and the Rapids will be outclassed across the pitch. We'll get one but it won't matter as they will be the second best team tomorrow. Honestly, I won't watch this one live. Middle of the day right after getting back from a long trip and just before starting a new job, I have things I need to get done. I'll try to avoid all spoilers and watch it a few hours later. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2018/05/colorado-tries-to-break-streak-in-tough.html
A DP and a TAM striker on the bench, a TAM attacker not in the 18. If Aigner can't make the 18 for this game he's never playing again.
This could get very very ugly..... Boateng on the wing continues to be terrible. While Price will clearly be missed, there’s a good chance we’ll be spending a lot of time on our back foot. Ironically, Azira’s defense could really help with that. Price was brought in to link up the back line to the mid field to be integral part of the “spine.” In spite of that grand plan, we have all seen very very little offensive play flow through the middle. Our offensive game (for better or worse) has been almost entirely long ball counters or crosses from the wing, neither of which should be significantly impacted by Azira’s lack of offense. Just a thought.... Nevertheless, agree with everyone else 3-1 loss. PS. Any injury updates on Bloomberg? Haven’t heard anything on him in weeks.
Another thought, the outcome of this game feels SO predictable that I can almost guarantee the first 3 subs: Down 1-2 goals (at least) at the 60 minute mark. First off the bench: Gashi 65’-70’: Serna + Boli I wish I could bet this!
Conceding the 1st goal by the 0:20 mark would’ve been a new low for the season....and that’s a pretty low bar.
I’ll say it again. Nicholson continues to look dangerous and aggressive. Looking like a really really good pickup for Padraig.
What was Wynne doing on the goal? Not marking anybody but making sure he was deep enough to keep everybody onside? Poor
We are being completely played off the pitch. Which is what happens when you don't start a strong lineup against a good team on the road.
