The last remnants of the old republic have been swept away.

 

It seems a shame we can’t “win” the wooden spoon in the same game where we lose the points record.

 

It's not the record points total, it's that the odds are excellent that Messi gets a hat trick!

 

Losing the Supporters Shield record may actually help those who want Porter gone. Losing will force the attention on how short the record stood and how poorly the team has done since setting the record.

 

There is no attention on this team. No ownership attention and barely any journalist attention. After nearly 28 years the pattern is well and thoroughly proven. An SN or Arena peak in performance doesn’t change it.

Neglect is the name of the game here in Foxboro

 

I have to agree that there is almost no scenario I can imagine that would see Porter or Onalfo dismissed this offseason. I mean, maybe ABMOD can turn his wrath on them and get them both kicked out? Otherwise, we are stuck with them. If they crap the bed again next year, yes, I think we can expect some changes. But not before then.

 

They're effectively killing next year by bringing Porter back and I guess the same with Onalfo. Any players brought in ahead of next season are their guys. So whoever comes in is left to attempt to pick up the pieces. This is not how you run a sports franchise.

Of course when you look at in the context of them having to pay Porter and a big season ticket base populated mainly by families with kids who like soccer with parents who could care less, then it all makes some sense. Sucks if you're a passionate soccer fan though.

 

Good start, poor possession, I was surprised that at 38 minutes we were at 29%, (at halftime it was 27% I thought it was more like 10%. We have not had good second halves this season, we may have one or two chances (that we will blow) in the first 5 minutes, then it will only get worse. Messi may not even be brought out, he might be rested.
Edit: Messi has an assist within 30 seconds of entering game, its over now at 3-2. 30 minutes left only to make things worse...

 

I'm inclined to agree because I have no faith in either man to do his job better by improving the roster and getting more out of the team next year. All we have is irrational hope that they somehow come through and prove us wrong.

 

The greatest of all time versus the worst that MLS has to offer.

 

The final result fittingly represents this entire season.

 

I am sad to say that this is probably the first time I can recall when I've been genuinely happy the Revolution season is over. They have been bad plenty of times, but this has truly been a special season for all the wrong reasons. Good riddance to the 2024 New England Revolution.

The best way to describe that match is hammer meets nail. Did Polster close anyone down all night? Man he just sucks.

 

Did they forget to go over that Messi guy in the scouting report? Maybe make a mental note that when he subs into the game, someone should try to be near him. I think they played against him earlier in the season. There might even be some film somewhere of the event.

 

The network got that one right! And it only took 30 minutes.

My only other comment about the game is that twice a player turning away from the ball that hits them on the upper arm/shoulder area is a hand ball, but a few games back a player falling down in the box stops a shot with their arm and it's play on!! I'm getting quite tired of all sports and their poor inconsistent refereeing.

 

Less the P/I/P and more the R.I.P. thread.

 

I'd have to look at the scores of the whole season (and I'm not that much of a masochist), but I'd bet that we have the most blowout losses (3 goals or more) of any team this year. Sure, we had a blowout win vs. Montreal, but look who's in the playoffs and we're not... And how many times have we been ahead and ended up without the full 3 points?

And what is it about Miami, where an Argentine wing scores in the first couple of minutes into the game and then... well, you know the rest of the story.

This season is worse than the Bad Old Days, when we had some truly bad teams. We actually have some decent players and we should never have had such a terrible season. But nothing is going to change. The other team is 1-6 and couldn't beat an equally bad team, so who has time to worry about the Revs, as long as there are plenty of soccer smiles to go around.
