No, you've got it all wrong. It's: MF passes to the CB, who passes to the GK, who then boots it all the way down field to the other team...
ATL lost 2-0 to Nashville. Notice anything different in these post-game coaches analysis? NE: ATL: Hey guys, we won 4 games in a row back in June! That proves we're a good team. We've just been unlucky.
It does prove that we’re capable of better, but I’ll agree with others that it feels like the team is just waiting for bad stuff to happen. I like our roster a lot better now than at the start of the season, but with all of the personnel shuffling, it just seems like there is almost no chemistry. Case in point, Langoni seems like a skilled, dangerous player, but it also looks like we have no idea how to use him.
Wow. If Wu seems like a tyrant, I’m guessing you haven’t been around for many Boston mayors. Literally all of her predecessors were worse.
Be that as it may, here's an anecdote about Wu you might (not) find amusing. This summer, my daughter was at a journalism workshop, sponsored by the Boston Globe and Regis College. They published a newspaper during the week and interviewed people for various stories. She was doing a story on opening of Frog Pond, and Mayor Wu was there with her 2 young kids. At the end, they wanted to speak with her, and she said, "sure, just give me a minute to put my kids in the car." She did, and then she hopped into the front seat and took off. You can always trust a politician to live up to their word!
I’ve been around since the early days of Menino. Yes, they’ve all sucked, but there’s a special place for the mayor who tanked the most concrete chance at a Revs stadium (which would have been privately funded and wasn’t even in her city, mind you) just because the Krafts hurt her feelings / she was annoyed that no one tried to grease her palm during the process.
Better yet, pass the ball directly to the gk on the kickoff, have him blast the ball upfield and immediately lose possession, and desperately try to stop the counter because so much of the team had pushed upfield.
This has been driving me insane all season. Fine to try if video shows some weakness you can exploit against a specific team, but town soccer teams have more advanced ideas than this and I have seen far too many of those where the coaching plan is "Kick!" "Run!" and "Boot it!" I guess I was wrong to expect more from a professional coaching staff.
I was thinking about this coming home from last night's disaster. I came to the conclusion that it's the Krafts fault for not being politically savvy enough to figure out how to get a project to approval. They've been in the mix for UMass/Boston, Brickbottom, South-End, Assembly Square, Everett, ... and that's just off the top of my mind - and not to mention the failed South Boston Patriots stadium plan. Somehow, they haven't managed to get any of these to acceptance/approval, while there has been a variety of mayors, governors, etc. Yet the Henry group is plowing ahead with the city's blessing on their project. The common factor in all these failures - Krafts. The Krafts seem to think they can do this political dance where they pick an influential partner or two (ex., Everett mayor, Gov. Healey) and think they are all done. Sorry, there are more rings to kiss if you want to get things done and you'd think they'd have learned this lesson now. I'm done with this or any stadium project - they've outlasted me. They've managed to blow much better opportunities and Everett is really only a mediocre plan at best - really settling for the best they can get (not downtown, not great transportation options, not in any real attractive location, ...). As for Mayor Wu, if she's obstructing it for some personal gain, then she is open to criticism. OTOH, if she's leveraging power that she apparently has to benefit her constituents (the people of Boston), that's what a politician should do IMO. Every developer has to play the game to get projects done, the Krafts always seem to be looking for a shortcut - and the result is they get nothing.
