Oh, my God, is he tiny! Porter and Onalfo look like giants next to him.

 

Probably bigger than Ema, though.

Some of the best/most threatening attackers in MLS are really small. Look at the last game against NYC - their smallest guys are the ones who are most dangerous.

 

Has a bit of the Johnny Torres thing going - height and appearance both

 

There are a lot of good 'little guys' in this league. I'm excited to see him. I was glad to hear him say that besides the wing, he also likes to play inside as a 2nd attacker. The one game I saw him play for Boca, that's where he was and he was very effective. Whether he'd be able to get on the same page with Vrioni though is uncertain I'd imagine.

 

I learned this morning that Josef Martinez now plays for Montreal. I hope he doesn’t break his dry spell against us!

 

I am liking Langoni, even if he has only played for a few minutes.

 

Where the hell did this come from? And can we have some more, please?

 

Encouraging as hell. We knew guys were getting healthy, but I expected some serious rust and also a lack of chemistry. Montreal did help us out by playing such a stinker, and they won't all be that easy. But it's nice to see what this team can be when healthy.

 

Add one win into the “Games in Hand” record book.

 

Epatant! The Revs started the day in dead last, with a god-awful GD of -24, and ended the day up four places, and with a goal differential now better than Montreal's.

Montreal, though... oof. I think I know now which team should be looking in Matt Turner's direction.

 

I'm going to allow myself to revel in this one for a day. Montreal sucked so maybe it was the exact opponent we needed to get our feet under us with all the returning/new pieces, but that was unquestionably the best we have looked since before Arenagate. One game, small sample size, long road ahead. But that was a hell of a first step on the road. The one obvious negative - I hope Bye isn't on the shelf for a while.

 

That was incredible!!!

How many times have we seen the Revs get a lead and all of a sudden ‘pack it in’ trying to defend that lead for the rest of the game.

this was the first time in like the last two years where they just ‘kept playing’. It was super refreshing to see them defending a lead by ‘still playing’ and look….a 5-0 victory.

I know Montréal is bad, but how many times have we gone against bad teams and thing s STILL work out for the other team?!?

It was such a joy to see things seems ‘easy’ for once

 

What a great game , three thoughts, 1. We didn't play defense after the second goal.2. I can't wait until we have all the first team players on the field at the same time. 3. I rewatched the highlights, I can't tell if Vironi is happier when he scores or his teammates. He reminds me of Andrew Farrell, always happy to play and happy when his teammates do well.

 

I agree with everybody so far, what a great game for the Revs.
I have 2 off the wall comments on the game. First, when Gil passed the ball into the box and Vironi ran by it, I was... what the.....oh fantastic goal.
The other comment was that Greg Sutton, the annalist for the game sounded like Brad Faxton, the golf analyst.

I think if the Revs can play even close to how they played last night, they should make the playoffs. What is going to be interesting to watch is who Porter runs out there for a starting lineup.

I thought they played OK in the League's Cup. Sprinkle in some attacking talent and the level of this team ratchets up considerably. I did think Montreal submitted a stinker then pretty much quit at the end. Anyone catch their coach apologizing to the supporters afterwards? But even with that it was the best performance of the season by far, I thought.

Langoni certainly made his presence felt. And MLS being MLS, we're back in the playoff picture. Tough one next Saturday - and I'm looking forward to it.

 

Well, if there's ever an opportunity for a new chant, it has to involve the phrase "Langoni to Vrioni".

 

Agreed. The same thought cross my mind on the Langoni to Vrioni assist. Any chant should be rhymed with Macaroni.
