Second half of the season begins Saturday. MATCHDAY GUIDE | Revs vs. Columbus Crew (June 29, 2024) Jeff Lemieux posted: Tuesday, Jun 25, 2024, 11:10 AM revolutionsoccer.net
This is the match that, at least for me, will show whether we've actually turned a corner or not. The Cincy win was great, don't get me wrong. But it still felt more like it could be a byproduct of a streaky team than a team that's actually proving itself "good." I'm waiting for the floor to fall out from under us, when our stupid giveaways finally come back to bite us in the tuckus (Polster ). If we draw or defeat the Crew on the road and avoid a case of the blooters though, I'll be convinced we've got something going on.
I’m pretty sure Caleb had this one circled on the schedule. I think it will be interesting who my Crew send out as the starting XI. Do you think Kraft would ever get your Revs their own stadium ? Seems unlikely which to me is disappointing
Yes, I do. It's the commonwealth of Massachusetts that's holding things up in the state legislature at this point.
I've paid some particular attention to the Crew due to them just being an opponent and the fact that I have some family near Columbus. Haven't been to the new stadium yet, however. Anyway, I watch them after I consume the Revs games, and have done so thru their Porter days. I believe I've learned enough to authoritatively say that Porter 'putting a circle around' a date means that he is pouring ALL of his CoachBot energy and mojo into that pen stroke and this, in turn will flow into the players, igniting their souls and whipping them into a Porter-systemized frenzy that will steamroll and shatter all opposition. We shall be blessed to witness it. It is THAT meaningful and momentous.
CoachBot lol you definitely pay attention because that’s spot on. I think you need to attend a game at LDC when the revs visit. It is a great stadium and atmosphere. Above and beyond HCS.

In his pre-game presser, Porter said GIl has an injury and is questionable for this game. https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/vi...er-previews-crew-our-biggest-test-of-the-year
No surprise here, but it's official now. Columbus Crew transfer Aidan Morris to Middlesbrough FC Jonathan Sigal Friday, Jun 28, 2024, 12:00 PM So Morris won't be in Foxboro tomorrow.

In a fair world this means we see all of Esmir, Buck, and Harkes on the field to give us some hope of being goal dangerous. Jack P HAS to get on the field if for no other reason that there is no one else. In Porter's world we're going to somehow get MAK on the wing, Polster and Farrell in CM, Harkes miscast as a CAM and blamed for the team's inability to be goal dangerous, and another 90 minutes pitch side for Jack
Wow that was a horrible 1st half. This team sucks, many out of action players noted. We seem to get to see Crew midfielders routinely making 30-40 yard, essentially unchallenged sprints toward our goal. When we get the ball on the other hand we ALSO make a bee-line back toward our goal! What the <bleep>! Oh well, it’s only the 5th game of the season and the REVS won the first 4… So no need to worry yet.
Oi. Thank you, Mr. Boateng for momentarily allowing me to feel "this is magical". Then reality sets in. W. Nancy >>>>> C. Porter. No Gil. Curbstomp in our own house. Anything good? Ayedunno... still reeling.
Guess what, Columbus? Some bigger, fancier, richer team is going to come for your coach, and then you'll be just like us. So there.
Totally outclassed. Though they gave themselves a chance. Boateng's goal put them ahead. If they could have made it to half time at 1-0 then brought on an extra defender and Farrell at DM to bunker down- that was probably their path to getting something out of the match. Alas.... Our MF was overrun. And then once Columbus got the lead they sat back, waited to counter and then Cucho, Rossi & co destroyed us. Given the lack of options on the bench, I have a feeling Porter knew this was too tall a hill to climb and was focusing more on Atlanta on Wednesday. Our roster needs work. Positives to me were Esmer and Boateng. Ema put another one on a platter for Vrioni, who (of course) scuffed it. Ema remains the only player on the Revs who can cross the ball. Unfortunately he got hurt 2nd half - so hopefully he's not added to the walking wounded. I'd say the Revs training methods should probalbly be examined. The injured list is way too big.
We knew going in they had little chance without Gil, Borrero and Chancalay, but, wow. They actually played fairly well in the first half, with two exceptions: Vrioni still can't finish, and Arreaga had an off night - misjudged a long ball that led to the first goal, then mistouched a back-pass out of bounds that led to the 2nd goal. The Revs were pressing and generating chances. But down 2 goals at half time, and they only managed one shot on goal in the second half. Outplayed, outcoached, outclassed. The summer transfer window can't come fast enough. Hopefully it starts with Vrioni and Kaye being out the door, and replaced with a striker who can finish, and a 6 who can win the ball without immediately turning it back over.
