MATCHDAY GUIDE | Revs at Orlando City SC (May 10, 2025) Jeff Lemieux posted: Thursday, May 8, 2025, 11:18 AM The Revs have a shutout streak of 385 minutes. Orlando has a streak of 526 minutes. Why do I get the feeling this is going to be a 4-3 game? While the Revs rested their starting XI last night, reportedly Orlando played several starters in their 5-0 thrashing of Tampa Bay. Will be interesting to see how that affects this game.
Going into this game, I didn't have a great feeling about coming out with a win. Seemed too much to ask to expect them to be able to keep the clean sheet streak, getting all 3 points on the road. But the biggest takeaway for me is this: this is a more resilient squad than they have been in quite a while. Rebounded from the bad start to the season, now on a good run since the end of March, got the Open Cup win with a second and third choice side, came back from 2-0 and 3-2 down in this one to nab a point. Says a lot about the improved mentality in the side this year.
I would like someone to explain to me, A: how taking 10 minutes on var is clear and obvious, and B: how was that a penalty? A player dives between 2 defenders and lowers his head, surprise he gets kicked in the head! If the defenders were facing the attacking player, then maybe I can see a penalty called, but not when the defenders back is to him. Anyway, good point taken. Got a little lucky, but we'll take any breaks we can get. Go Revs

Here's my thoughts........ First, the shutout streak was fun, but does have an element of luck involved. We knew the 'luck' wouldn't last forever. Sure, maybe they coudl have been better defensively on that first goal, BUT that was an excellent shot...no one is stopping that. Second, the TIDE has turned! What I mean by that is that we went down 0-2 relatively early in teh game...and the crazy part.....I truly felt we were still in it! That is a huge change from how I felt earlier this season and all of last season. Previously I would have felt 0-2 was a death sentence...but apparently they have shown enough life in recent times to instill confidence in their fans....and look at that, they DID comeback and get a result (even a DRAW is good in that scenario). Third, yes, the PK allowed...that's a tough one. I think anytime someone gets kicked in the face it LOOKS bad, but what makes this a TOUGH TOUGH call is..... A.) The defender played the ball (and it was actually the guy's head that hit the foot). IF anything it should actually be a foul on the offensive player. (the offensive player actually EMBELLISHED the contact, could you imagine if the VAR result was a YELLOW on the offense? that would have been great) B.) The player lowered his own head to put himself in a dangerous position. This should be an example to all offensive players. C.) As others have mentioned, the amount of time it took to both DECIDE IF IT WAS WORTHY OF VAR and then the VAR REVIEW itself definitely show it was NOT clear and obvious I'm not too irate over the call though because I think the PK awarded to us later in the game was somewhat generous....so it evened out in my opinion. Oh, and in a 'glass half full' department, we earned that comeback/tie without Langoni and Chancalay. The team is only bound to get even better once we utlize them more, right? My only negative is that Campana doesn't seem to be a guy who can 'create chances'. I was hoping he would have more of a 'nose for the goal' than Vrioni, but they seem similar at this point. I'll reserve judgement for now though as I think he's still finding his place within the team.....and things can certainly change quickly.
That was my negative as well. All game I was yelling at Campana to get in the box. There was one play where (I think it was) Ganago on right sends an inviting, low cross through the box, but there no one there to receive it, and Campana is camped out just outside the 18. Also agree on the PK, the Revs players got to the ball first, it should have been a foul on the Orlando player.
I know the EXACT play you were talking about because I was thinking the EXACT same thing....I was like you are playing TWO forwards, there is NO REASON someone shouldn't be in a dangerous position in the box to receive that pass.
I didn't look that closely but I thought one Revs player kicked the ball and the other one kicked the guy's head.
Andrew Wiebe does not agree with me. He votes PK for high kick. https://www.mlssoccer.com/video/dou...n#double-danger-high-feet-lead-to-pk-decision He also thinks the PK Ganago drew was no foul.
Weibe also hates the revs, and I'm not sure has ever spoken in our favor when reviewing a call related to our team on instant replay
