Looks like a draw tonight, I hope with DeJong returning and Gio in top form everyone else steps up and we start getting some points.
I'll take the point. Great job defensively at the end, did we concede a true goal scoring chance? I don't think so.
thought Penso, the ref, actually did a decent job. villareal had a nice sequence down by the end line. what he lacks in speed (a lot, unfortunately) he makes up for in strength on the ball. dude must have tree trunks for legs.
Van Damme had an excellant game. The team had no control at all in the spine. Fortunately they played pretty well after the Cole ejection.
We stole a point. Not close to the proverbial "just result." We were so outplayed. Steres, in the first half in particular, was giving up the ball left and right. No goals resulted, but my stomach will not be the same for a day or two. Even before the cards, I thought this was Cole's weakest game for us to date. Rogers actually looked better than Ashley at LB tonight. Hope he can go 90 next game. The Husidic/MaGee tandem was not effective, but I will give them a pass as they have never played together in those roles before. Clearly a stop-gap measure and I am not sure what options Bruce had (assuming that Larentowits was not fit to go 90). Jeff seemed to do OK during his short stint. Great pass by Gyazi to release Gio, and I love the chip. "I did what I like to do," he says in the post-game. OK. From the first 15 it was pretty clear that 3 points was not in the cards tonight, so all in all we ought to be pretty happy with this.
Thrilled with the tie given how the game went. One moment of brilliance by Gyasi and Gio and some luck got us the point. But we absolutely sucked at keeping possession the whole game. The first half we kept trying 30 yd vertical balls that will be intercepted 100% of the time. After that we booted the ball away way too often.
Like everyone else has already said, I am quite happy with that point (and stealing two from KC) thank you very much...
