New rules for what is allowed in stadiums throughout MLS: Security enhancements to include new Bag Policy and guest screening measures NEW YORK, NY (April 19, 2016) – Major League Soccer today announced elevated security standards that will be applied across all MLS stadiums to ensure a safe environment for soccer fans. Beginning this Saturday, April 24, a new minimum standard Bag Policy and guest screening measures will be instituted in all 20 MLS venues bringing MLS events in line with security measures taken by the other professional sports leagues in North America. These security standards will apply to all MLS, SUM, and USL games played at MLS venues, including but not limited to MLS League and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup games, friendly matches, and fan events. Fans are encouraged to check venue-specific policies as the below are baseline security standards for MLS events. Individual venues may have additional restrictions on bags and other items entering the stadium. “Public safety is a top priority and the enhanced security measures will ensure that fans are able to continue to enjoy MLS and SUM events in a safe environment,” said MLS president and Deputy Commissioner Mark Abbott. “The safety of our fans, players and staff is paramount,” said Ray Whitworth, Senior VP of Security and Operations. “The updated security measures bring us in line with professional sports leagues around the United States and Canada while maintaining the unique sports experience that is MLS.” Under the new security policy, all guests will be fully screened upon entry into MLS venues. The screenings will be conducted via a full pat down or with the use of a search wand of magnetometers. Each venue will decide which procedures and protocols will be used to provide this acceptable level of security while ensuring a quality experience for all guests. Under the new league-wide Bag Policy, fans are prohibited from bring the following into a stadium**: Large purses Coolers Briefcases Backpacks Luggage of any kind Computer bags Camera bags Any bag larger than 14’’x14’’x6’’ In addition, all bags will be subject to search upon entry. The bag restriction will not apply to credentialed media, who will continue to enter MLS stadiums through designated entrances and adhere to all posted media bag policies and screenings. **Special considerations will be made for guests with special medical needs and parents caring for infants. The increased security policy was unanimously supported by the MLS Board of Governors and involved input from all 20 MLS clubs.
This guy is coming home and with a large contingency of Armenians expected, we need to keep an eye on him. Possibly no Plata though.
No Plata! No problem Yura with a brace 2-1 RSL! OK before you guys start shooting, just pumped because I will be at this match. If Plata is out it will big loss for RSL. last time I was in your stadium you tied San Jose on a late Donovan goal. Peace!
He will be back in the near future : http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/0...ture-after-recovering-meniscus-injury-insider Maybe he'll play with Los Dos tomorrow? From what I read it seems that everybody in the roster is fully training, except from Robbie Keane.
AJ is taking over the Galaxy snap chat today. Showed Leo doing personal training. So he's on his way back
Thanks for the Leo updates! It's just weird that we haven't seen him in ages. Not sure I miss him. I liked him last year...but it's Leo. Rock...hard place...
Are they replacing the metal detectors with wands and pat downs or were the metal detectors already above then-minimum and so that aspect wouldn't change at Stub Hub?
It really sucks when you can't get in and out of the stadium quickly. As someone who likes to on may occasions get in and out quickly and avoid traffic by parking for the Galaxy far far away, there is nothing worse than showing up right on time (say 15 minutes before kick-off) only to get stuck in long lines at the gate. I'm not sure what upsets me more - the stadium managers who sometimes have the gates grossly understaffed or far too few gates open - or the groups of clueless fans who slow the process down because they seem to be surprised when they get to the front of the line that they have to take their keys out of their pockets, or unzip their bags, or show their tickets.
I'm thinking they already meet the standard but the no backpacks and other things could be new and cause a problem. Anytime you asked people (employees and patrons alike) to do something different it causes a problem.
Any advice on parking? I have passes that get me into lot 12/13 but it's been hell this season. I normally go in the main gate (which is one of my designated entrances). Is there a better option? Um... thanks cellphone...
Other than getting there really early, I'd call your ticket rep and make a stink about the lots this season. They've indeed been hell and I've only parked in them once this year. Last game, even the entrance off Victoria was already closed 15min prior to kickoff without those lots next it near full. I park at the Carls up by the 91 and walk. I've never timed it but, it probably takes about the same amount of time. I know the time I used the lots this season, I was still in line to leave the lots when my cousin was already waiting at Carls for me to get there...
I also have lots 12/13 passes. I tend to arrive early, but for some reason Gate C (which is the best way into lot 12) has been closed whenever I arrived. I am routed down to Gate D, east of the stadium, and have to make my way back across east to west to park in 12. What's worse, I get routed into lot 13 and can only get to lot 12 by mowing down a few rubber traffic cones (none of which have been Leonardo so far). I have no idea what they think they are accomplishing. I just know that the "improvements" have made my experience parking worse.
Predicted lineup given the players who played with G2 yesterday : Gio Zardes Magee Gerrard Husidic Lletget Cole Van Damme Steres AJ Rowe Bench : Kennedy, Rogers, Romney, Larentowicz, Boateng, BJ4, Gordon.
