#LAvVAN: Part 3-“The Ugly” #LAGalaxy need a tactical re-think. #Chicharito is starving, w/out a parter which to run off & link—yet to hit a shot on target. “Get it wide & whip it in” may have worked in back in the day, but it’s clearly not now. STATS: 2 GP- 54 crosses - 3 S.O.G.— Christian Miles (@cmilessports) March 8, 2020
If we are going to launch crosses then Chichirito needs a #9 next to him to help create chaos and knocks ons. With only his diminutive size in the middle our high crosses opposing defenders wet dreams. Alternatively we forgo the #9 and keep the ball on the ground. But to do that we need creative and coordinated runs off the ball rather than the random "chicken-with-his-head-cut-off" running around we are seeing. Based on last season I'm not sure the current coaching staff is up to teaching coordinated movement so I think we probably need to go with finding a really good #9. Meanwhile we may have to figure out a way to stick Zubak in there.
Still bummed about this. Really concerned we've got another disappointing season ahead. I'm rattled by how much my enthusiasm for this season has just been drained by last night's game, as well as the Chicharito no-show & fan violence.
The Katai you are talking about is the guy we expected. Maybe not the on-fire pony-tail Katai but a guy who can run at defenses and turn them inside out. A player that can be counted on to unbalance defenses for his own goals or for a team mate and do it on a semi-consistent basis. After several games in pre-season and two regular-season games that Aleksandar has yet to make his appearance and if he continues like he is, will turn into yet another horrible acquisition by Galaxy. I am still hopeful he can turn it around.
Maybe you've never seen a star be held scoreless due to horrid tactics before. Otherwise you wouldn't be surprised at the notion of a player the likes Ronaldo or Messi being made to look bad in such games. We were able to get away with those tactics with Ibra because he had the height to win the ball off such crosses. Maybe Ronaldo could do it too being 6'2". But Messi is shorter that Chicharito, and unless he has the ball in a 1 on 1 dribble, guess who want be scoring off of bad crosses if he were on the LA Galaxy roster?
If I were GBS I would try one of the following 4-4-2 Diamond formations Option 1) -----Pavon---Chicharito -----------Llegett Corona-----------Katai ------------Jona ------------------------------- Option 2) ----Zubak----Chicharito ----------Pavon Corona-----------Llegett -----------Jona -------------------------------- Option 3) ----Pavon---Chicharito ----------Sasha Llegett----------Katai -----------Jona
OK. I was out of town but the game is on my DVR. All I really know about beyond press coverage is what is being said here. Sooooo ...My question is this, and I am serious. Is there any good reason for me to watch the game? Is there anything I can learn from seeing it that hasn't been covered on these boards. Not inclined to take a couple of hours of my time to watch unless you guys think there is some reason to do so.
Did you record the Laker's game? Or the US Women? Or one of those lumberjack competitions? I'd put the Vancouver game up there with the last season of Game of Thrones. Just know it wasn't good - I suspect you'll have lots more chances to watch more ineptitude this season.
Messi or Ronaldo would tear up MLS, even on the current Galaxy team. Chicharito is no Messi or Ronaldo.
If you got any value out of watching the Houston game, then go for it. The Vancouver game was a carbon copy, less any brilliant individual plays, such as Pavon's goal.
Immediately after the game ended I thought, “why did I watch that?” Its a question I’ve asked myself for several seasons now. I know the answer (loyalty), but I’m honest, there’s nothing you’ll get out of it. Skip it and maybe you can feel a slight bit of enthusiasm on Friday when the next game gets closer. I’ll spend all week pretending I didn’t watch it.
My conscience won't allow me to sleep ever again unless I advise you to hurl your entire DVR into the ocean immediately, lest you accidentally hit the play button while attempting to delete the game.
I think I’ve found the solution for next week. I’ve added a defender and goalkeeper for Inter Miami into my fantasy team and captain Pavon. This should work right?
This was a much worse performance than the Houston game. For instance, on Saturday we got just 1 SOG, compared to 4 in Houston. It was just a bad, bad game.
3 more shots doesn't really mean much. I guess in the Houston game, we looked decent for about 15 minutes and terrible for the rest. The last game, we looked terrible for pretty much the entire game.
