The game will be televised on TWCS and TWCD (Spanish) Previous games: Galaxy 4 - DC United 1 ; Rapids 0 - San Jose 1 The biggest change for the Rapids since 2015 has been the signings of Albanian forward Shkëlzen Gashi and non-DP Jermaine Jones (who is still on suspension and will not be available for the Rapids). Irish International Kevin Doyle is the second Rapids DP and beginning his second season with Denver; he led the Rapids with 5 goals in 2015 which speaks to their scoring problems. On the negative side Marcello Sarvas was traded to DC United. In the last game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, former Galaxy midfielder Marcello Sarvas opened the scoring with a for the Rapids in the 12th minute. The Galaxy came back with 3 goals in the 2nd half by Lletget (56'), Gordon (69') and Keane (90+3'). The Galaxy have announced that Dan Kennedy is unlikely to be available for selection which implies Brian Rowe will be the starter. http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/0...-selection-against-colorado-rapids-due-injury
There is a chance that Gio will be available for the Rapids game (more to follow): http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/0...ani-dos-santos-will-available-colorado-rapids
Well, if he plays, it will be interesting to see if watching Magee leads him to raise his intensity level.
I think Magee should start with Gio on the bench. After Magee scores 4 goals and gets 2 assists, sub on Gio. Gio would then have about 75 minutes left to live up to the standard Magee just set.
How do you not start Magee regardless if Gio is ready to go? Arena is going to have hell to pay if he doesn't. I'll have a full preview for the game up tomorrow but in the meantime I think it's going to be a better game than we expect. The Rapids are a pretty newly built club and I think we still have kinks to work out in the back four although I've been happy with the output so far. Here's hoping de Jong can go another game without kicking someone in the face. There should be a sign in the locker room "It's been XX days since de Jong ruined someone"
I've been pretty tolerant of Gio, but yeah I don't see how Magee doesn't get the start. With Gio coming off an injury, he still gets to save a bit of face. But at some point we've got to send the message to the rich guys they have to earn their spots.
Certainly isn't true for Gerrard and never will be. Why would Bruce hold Gio to a different standard?
Leave off the last name on the list and you have a more than adequate front 6. You will also have few turnovers and more completed passes since Gerrard is pretty much incapable of getting to a ball that is not directly passed to his feet.
I think Bruce uses the amount that Gio can train this week to gauge his playing time. Anything less than full participation three days on, means he sits so we don't have to risk a first half sub. Also, a good chance Gerard comes off due to altitude travel and the sub-standard North American conditions he is being subjected to. No predictions without more Magee status. First page!?!?
I agree with your thoughts about GIO. However your comments about Gerrard puzzle me. Did I miss your use of the sarcastic font? If not would you care to explain this comment both in general or specifically? Dick's Sporting Goods Park has a "120 x 80 yard FIFA regulation size grass field with an innovative underground heating and draining system". IMO the only thing substandard about Gerrard is his ability and effort.
Maybe any DP that's out of form can get "sick" or "injured" for a little while. 30 mins into season, Gerrard is already that kid that has to be picked up from the sleepover at midnight with a "upset tummy".
Just left it open ended for you to add your own list of complaints that a BPL level player would complain about, that could result in substandard (MOTM) performance.
