Rapids make 1st of 3 stops on the season, 1 of 2 stops on this road trip, in California. They go to Carson to visit the LA Galaxy; whom they vanquished a week or so ago. And who looked terrible. But maybe this time they'll have Zlatan, the bastards. Game is at 8:30 Mountain Time on Tuesday, August 14th, at the Stubs Hubs Center ("We have the Dick, they have the Stub"). ***All facts subject to errors*** It's on Altitude I assume.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the last two games. Not just the results, mind you, but the improved play, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. That said, this game has a "back to the real world" feel to it. I need to see Hudson's lineup before making a prediction, but I'm really not sure what he can do with a Saturday/Tuesday schedule adding travel. It's not like we're a deep club.
LAG with Zlatan will be a tougher proposition than what we saw at home. Not expecting a win, just hope they keep playing like they have been!
It will be interesting to see what changes Hudson makes to the lineup for this match as well as the LA follow-up on Sunday at LAFC. I would expect a 4-4-2 in both cases, but in terms of getting certain players some rest is hard to predict. It looks like Acosta goes all out in every match, so perhaps he'll get pulled in one or both of the matches early. It seems likely Serna will get more time. And what about Bassett? Will he get on the pitch despite his youth? If the Rapids play with the possession and poise they have recently, they may hold their own.
I was surprised to see Bassett in the 18 last game, I get the want to play the youth so we the fans can see what he brings, but wouldn't that alienate just about all the vets on roster who are not seeing the field?
He was a late addition to the 18 after Danny Wilson fell ill on Fri./Sat. Given that we just traded Azira I'm not sure what vet would have been a better choice to replace Wilson.
He's also in the 18 that traveled to LA. ... unless of course he's the 19th and just along for the ride.
Don't know about Wilson. Rapids just noted Bassett's first road trip as a pro on social media last night.
Are the Rapids staying in LA all week given that they play their again Sunday night? If that's the case, could they travel more than 18?
LA Galaxy v Colorado Rapids StubHub Center (10:30PM ET) REF: Kevin Stott AR1: Eduardo Mariscal AR2: Cameron Blanchard 4TH: Chico Grajeda VAR: Ismail Elfath
They could definitely travel more than 18, or perhaps plan on a few returning home after LA Gals and a few others coming out?
They're staying in LA all week. Yesterday was the only training at the Dick until they return. LOL, though I'll point out Disney stopped using the ticket system before he was born (hell, before a lot of the posters here were born, 1982).
Bassett not in the 18. No Boli either. Squad 💪Here's our starting XI against the Galaxy.📝 Roster notes: https://t.co/06JsdciKvQ pic.twitter.com/aU6kg7Bh71— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) August 15, 2018
