Broadcast is on TWCS and TWCD. FINALLY, a home game on Saturday night. I will be there! - how about you? FC Dallas stands in solid playoff position in the west, challenging for the 3rd place slot to avoid the play-in game. Last 5 games: LA: W-W-W-T-T Dal: W-W-L-L-W
We must respect their counter attacking abilities, and not let Omar get caught in a 1 on 1 with Castillo running at him.
It'll be interesting to see what we can do against a good west team now that we've under-performed against weakass, bottom-dwelling teams in each division. Dallas needs to be taught a lesson for having the nerve to occupy a playoff position in our division. Only an outright thrashing will suffice. And.... I hope we win. PS: Please remember to vote for Scottish independence this week, because the Scots thoroughly deserve self-rule.
I agree, but if we fail to win the Shield, our failings were the result of games long past. Getting ties on away games isn't all that bad. Missing more PKs than not, when your making millions as the DP, that's been a season-long issue. We should be leading in the standings by 4 points, at least.
I will be there! My first and only game this year and I'm taking 3 friends who have never been to a soccer game before. Hopefully they get to see the first choice squad and we annihilate Dallas and they all become hardcore Galaxy fans by the end of the night.
This. Dallas is a team of individuals. They have the lowest ratio of assists to goals in the league (we have the highest). If you watch them, they rely on individual skill to score goals, rather than strong passing and possession. This should be a really interesting game. If we score early, possess the ball, and don't give up dangerous set pieces, we should cruise easily to a win. However, if we give up an early goal, things could get ugly.
And since it's a team of individuals, I expect Leo to get beat at least once. Because we all know he's playing. Much to our chagrin.
Crazy poster. It reminds me a lot of Watchmen, but I assume it's a reference to something else? Or is just a really cool poster?
Chants I will be failing to get started this week: Where's your JR gone? Dallas Sucks, Dynasty was better You're named after a weatherman Also, has the "You're just a suburb of..." chant ever been funny or got under the skin of an opponent? I for one have never laughed and I find it hard to imagine a player losing it because he's thinking "No!!! That's not true!!! We are an entirely separate metropolitan area!!! " Well except perhaps, Brian Ching...
Obviously you are referring to the original show "Dallas" and not the current version which is just about the best thing on tv. At least sound-wise....
I have not really watched it to be fair. The first rule of chanting though: you need not necessarily agree with what is being said. It merely need be amusing and/or a one way ticket into the opponents head. I once tried a "Chicago sucks, the Eagles are better" chant, which nobody seemed to get...
So, believe it or not, today was my last day wrapping up my work on this season of the show. So I took a break from working on Act 5 and the big shocking season finale.... to check out Bigsoccer and see Barroldinho diss my show... Next week we find out if today was my last day ever working on the show... or if we live to soap opera another day... In other news--- I hope we kick Dallas' butt up and down the field on Saturday!
Let's hope for a Galaxy win and a Seattle loss! Luckily, Seattle might have tired legs on Saturday after tonight's 120 minute performance. Somewhat related....Seattle winning the Open Cup was actually pretty good for us! If they end up winning the SS, and we finish second in the standings and fail to win the Cup, then we'll still get a spot in CCL next year (since Seattle already secured a spot tonight with their Open Cup win). A little bit of history: LA completely dominates this matchup at home. I looked up all of our home games vs. Dallas since 1998, and we've only lost to them 4 times. If my math is correct, our H2H home record against them is 22-4-5. That's impressive!
I have this vague memory of being at a losing game at home within the last few years that knocked us out of the playoffs. Luckily, my memory sucks so I don't have to have total recall on the bad times.
I remember that game well. We were firing on all cylinders and were a big favorite going into the game and then Dallas came in and ran us off the pitch. They were much more athletic and apparently all of their biorhythms were at their peak that night.
I had completely forgotten about that game until now. Thanks Geneva. But seriously that game was terrible.
