With all the other results, this is a huge game beyond the normal rivalry.

Chivas USA are now 4 points behind LA with 3 games in hand, making a win here even more important.

The next two weeks are going to be very important. If we toss out RSL, San Jose and Seattle as realistic targets: Colorado @ RSL; San Jose @ Vancouver; Vancouver @ RSL; Seattle @ Colorado; If, and it’s a big if, we can get our back line solidified we might start to get a little separation from the rest of the contenders for the last play-off spots.

At the beginning of this four game stretch, I was saying that 7 points was acceptable, but 10 would be good. Let's get the ten!!!! I think this game shapes up pretty well for us. Chivas is pretty confident, but ripe for a let-down. We just escaped a poorly played match with a draw, and I'm hoping that will re-focus us. I think we should come out guns blazing in this one, and try to put them away early.

Must win. We can't allow anyone behind us to catch up and narrow the gap.

I don't know what to tell you. I don't think MLS Direct Kick is an option.

Good game thread once again Bubble. However, this picture used for the HDC venue pic is obviously how the venue looks when the Goats rent it from us. Despite the fact that we're the home team this week, but regardless whenever we play at the HDC we're always the home team and this is always our stadium! God dammit!

I hope the Vancouver game was the "rest" they needed before the Chivas game. Does Bruce bring out the same line-up? Is Dunivant given the night off to recover from his injury (did they mention what it was)?

Obviously, hope to see Gonzilla in place of Lopes, and I wonder which other players need a breather at the tail end of 3 games in 8 days. Juninho missed the first game and only played half of the second, so his legs should be good. But does he replace Sarvas or Beckham - or continue to be benched until he starts hustling more?

And can Beckham do 3 in 8 days? Normally he is rested in the 3rd game, or at least starts on the bench and comes on in the second half.

And if Dunivant is still hurt, do we see Bryan Gaul get his first start at his better position (LB)?

And is the Highlander ready to suit up again?

    Possible lineup:

    -------Keane----Donovan
    Magee-----Sarvas-----Jimenez
    ------------Juninho
    Gaul--AJDLG--Gonzilla--Franklin
    ------------Saunders

    Subs: Beckham, Stephens, Villareal

This game is a big 6-pointer. The team that wins has the inside track to the playoffs. I expect this to be one of the better games between these two teams, and both teams should be going all out. If Omar is back, I think we're going to be fine. If not, it's a bit of a toss-up. You need 3 pts out of this game, though. Draw is not really OK considering the playoff picture.
I think my starting 11 would look like this, regardless of tired legs. (You play your best players in must win games):
    Keane, Donovan
    Magee Juninho Sarvas Beckham
    Dunivant Gonzalez AJDG Franklin

I'd have Jimenez ready to switch in on the right if either Sarvas or Juninho are struggling (Beckham moves centrally) and also consider dropping Donovan back into the hole in the midfield behind the strikers if you need more punch and want Villareal up top for the last 20 mins.

What's even worse is we have another three games in 8 days week next week. Luckily the game in the middle doesn't count. Of course we would love it if Beckham and LD and co doesn't play and McBean, Villarreal, and other academy players get to play but I don't think it will be the case. Hopefully they only play for a half or less next week against Tottenham so that we can come out ready to play against dallas on the weekend.

For this game, I just hope gonzo is ready to go because our team has been dying out for a general on for the defense. It seems like, even after half a season, most players on the defense don't know what he other guy is going to do. These seconds of hesitation is all the other team needs to punish us. I am past the point of wanting to go back to the defense from last year. Let's just get to where we allow closer to 1 goal/game. If we can get to that consistency, we will continue to move up the standings.

And another thing, chivas is right behind us? CHIVAS!?!?!??!?! And they have 3 games in hand on us? WTF is that? We have to win this game. Period.

Juninho looked good last night in his limited minutes. Start him over Sarvas. Sarvas has could use the rest I'm sure. Beckham is going to miss the game 7/28 against FCD so there is no way he doesn't play in this one.

Ok here we go redemption time! Everybody wants to talk about points and standings etc, That's fine and dandy. It's no secret that I absolutely hate everything chivas it doesn't matter whether guadalajara or their bootleg american version. I still have not forgiving the team for losing to this lot last time but on saturday they have a chance to wash away the dirt from that game. I expect not hope expect total and unrelenting destruction of chivas (mouth feels dirty saying that cursed name). LET"S GO LA GALAXY!!!

The only change I would make to your lineup is adding Beckham to the starting lineup. Beckham was out against Chicago and Portland so he hasn't played as much as other guys on our team recently. He's also out for the Dallas game for the Olympic opening ceremony. His next completive game might not be until August 5th against Seattle. Plus if Gaul and Omar get the start on Saturday, then I want Beckham out there aiming for those 6'5"ers heads on corners and free kicks. His shot and kicks are in form right now, we need to continue to ride that.

I agree that Juninho gets this starts as a reward for his nice assist to Villareal. Sarvas has been good for us, but probably this last game was his least effective. Sarvas needs the rest, he's played great for us filling in for both Beckham and Juninho, but we need him fresh for the Dallas game.

Wow really funny tin foil hat SJ fan in N&A now...

"Its truly unfortunate MLS fans have to experience the games thru the words of Galaxy filth Kyle & Galexi. Its like getting news from the Voice Of America. The Bull$h!t meter goes off the hook."

" Galaxy has placed themselves on all the games & has all their mouthpieces to give their POV. Anybody see Baby Judas grab that Portland defender & take the ball off him? You wouldn't know it was a foul (uncalled)"

"How come RSL & SJ have so few games on TV? If you can answer that truthfully I'll qualify you as an expert."

"How come all the Galaxy games are on the networks? Simple because MLS IS the Galaxy. There is no need to confuse the public showing teams they know already they have no interest in. MLS fans need to be forcefed propaganda by "ex-Galaxy" players. No RSL to bore the fans. No SJ to bore fans. The schedule is made by the Galaxy to promote themselves. Ex players are hired to promote the Galaxy on tv. Their use is entirely due to the amount of praise they blab about the Galaxy."

LOLOL wow WTF. Sorry, off topic but I was pretty impressed by this.

Yup, its pretty funny the conspiracy theories thought up on scheduling. What makes it even worse is that the schedule was thought up before the season even began and nobody in their right mind thought the smurfs would be this good this year. Its the epitome of hindsight and just shows how loony their fans are. But that's the way it is when you are part of the Galaxy. Nobody seems to see straight when discussing us.
