Might also be a clap back at UEFA and the FAs involved. They can send their thank you cards to the Belgian National Team.

it sure feels like it was a message sent, Streisand effect here, if the Balogun red holds, this suspension is not highlighted and we all move on to the next game, now every game going forward people are going to be looking for any slight or wrong call and turn into a big deal

that whole sequence was a clown show, I understand why Mbappe is upset but he still should have buried that

it was only a matter of time, I am curious to see if there was a handball and Mbappe getting manhandled once again

TBH this and all the surrounding bullshit is kind of why I don’t care about this World Cup. Each go-round starting with Russia FIFA has managed to get more corrupt and more greedy kowtowing axis of atrocious host countries. I still watch and I still care to an extent, America getting bumped was a bummer, when England gets bumped it’ll be a bummer, but those things used to ruin my day and sometimes week. They’re barely a blip now.

Thank you for this! That was one of the games, perhaps THE game I had in mind. Paraguay acted shamefully and that was an ugly game. Their behavior should not be supported by officiating. We were so lucky the Dutch ref who officiated our game was on top of their garbage.

I remember thinking, so this is how and why Paraguay did so well in CONMEBOL qualifying. Must be jungle rules.

    Belgium GK really bottled it

didn't realize that both Belgium GK's spilled shots that cost them, brutal for Belgium

not sure if its the residue of the US and Mexico losing but I didn't feel these last two games were very riveting, I'm hoping the ones tomorrow are a bit better.

After his comments about how it easy it was to beat us….karma’s a B, isn’t it?

Always better to win and lose with grace.

was he the guy that said Senegal was a better team and put up a bigger fight or something similar to that?

Belgium was pretty classless throughout he whole ordeal, a team as talented as they thought they were would have shrugged it off and beaten the pants off the US and making a huge statement without saying a word.

Yeah, when I saw this interview going around this morning, I kinda thought "Wow England just got !@#$ed". Norway just became instant favorites for all casuals.

This game is so slow no doubt in part due to the weather. I wonder if the World Cup ends up switching to a winter tournament as global warming keeps ticking up. It’d be kind of funny with MLS switching to a winter schedule lo these many years later.

Norway’s defensive shape and discipline in this game is insane! Should be 2-0 really if Odegard(?) hadn’t been so selfish.

And it just fell apart and they gave up a goal.

Jude has been a beast this whole WC, Heggem hesitated going for the ball and was toast after that.

I wouldn’t say this game is the polar opposite of the Mexico game, but I don’t know that many neutrals would enjoy it.

Why did Nyland try to catch that. Should have just parried it out wide.

putrid goalkeeping from Nyland and his defense ball watching doomed them

Halland and Kane look dead on their feet and neither had a particularly good game.

After he had a pretty good save a bit earlier.

    And Spence created that foul.

Real time I thought that was dive and wouldn’t have awarded the PK, so I don’t have a moral problem with the call, but on review I don’t see how they overturn that. Sure he was looking for the contact, but he had dribble control the whole way and the defender doesn’t get any ball.
