Does Villarreal start? Or do we leave Clark out wide and keep Magee up top? I wonder how Arena will handle Villarreal/McBean. It seems Wilshere at Arsenal is constantly injured/burnt out because of so much playing time at a young age. It'll be interesting to see how Arena brings the youngins along.
I'm thinking he keeps Villarreal as a sub. I saw an article somewhere that he was pretty tired by the end of the game vs. Heredanio.
I wouldn't mind starting McBean up top. We are sure to see a lot set pieces around the box. He, Omar and Leo will be very hard for them to defend against. Bring Villareal on around 60 and let them and their tired legs try to keep up with him.
I would not underestimate Chivas. They’re not a great team, but they aren’t as bad as their first home game or their attendance would have you believe.
McBean starting with Keane would be a mistake. He is too damn slow and needs a speedster next to him, Robbie is not that. I would start the exact same lineup as we did against Chicago. Clark deserves more chances and he is super fresh now. Bring Villareal late in the game if at all. I'm still not sold on Franklin at RM but let him have a little more time. Biggest thing of all is we can not underestimate Chivas. They might be a goat crap joke but when it comes to derby's every team plays well.
Agree with everything you said and especially the bolded part. Their 1st game together they lost 3-0 to a good Columbus team but the final score was a little misleading - it was still 1-0 in the 88th minute. Then last week they fall behind 1-0 to Dallas but come back to win 3-1. True, Dallas helped them with a couple bad defensive errors; nevertheless their on-field play improved 100% from week 1 to week 2. Will then continue to improve week after week or will they lapse into the suckitude of the past few years? Will losing their "on paper best defender" Peruvian international Walter Vilchez to injury weaken them further or will his replacement be as good? Who knows? We may find them soft and roll all over them or we might find a battle on our hands. Bottom line is they are still a somewhat unknown quantity and taking them lightly would be a mistake. A mistake I don't think this particular group of players will make.
Yes. Overconfidence here is the biggest concern. I think Bruce will not let the team think that way, but even so they have to be feeling pretty good about themselves. Remember the old saying: Pride cometh before the banana peel.
Yep. We don't want to let this team think they can hang with us and develop any confidence. We need to lower the boom on them early. And often.
I don't think Chivas is as bad a team as everyone makes out. At the same time, we haven't scored 7 goals on anyone in a long time, and that sure would be nice. Alternatively, Bruce may bench Magee out of pure humanitarian concerns to keep things close. Then again, Magee might use his Jedi powers to direct Bruce to bench the entire team except for Magee and Magee might just humiliate Chivas Lite all by himself. It's anybody's guess. I just hope we don't lose.
From Adam Serrano's twitter: SuperClasico week has officially kicked off. There's already been a few battles over who gets to use the weight machines in the HDC gym.
I was watching TWC Deportes with an interview with Chelis. He basically said that the Galaxy means nothing to him. That he is not their friend because they are the enemy. This game is no regular game.
