"However, our failure to make the playoffs this season, for a variety of reasons, necessitates some major changes. "

    All right then.

But OZ is still going to be scouting, and his record for that isn't all that great.

This is excellent news! Apparently, his one talent as scout will remain:

Zambrano will continue in his role as the team's managing director of player development and will also serve the team in a variety of consulting roles in areas of scouting and youth development, said president and general manager Nick Sakiewicz.

Well the team STILL needs its primary agent.

Call him a poor man's Gustavo Mascardi or Paul Stretford? Kidding...

Sounds to me like he's got one of those guaranteed contracts. I guess you guys will have to employ him as a hot dog vendor or something for a couple years and then quietly let him go............

Anyway, congratulations! I'm happy for you guys.

What this means (?) is that OZ has a contract with Metro through next season, so rather than a total loss they have him stay on this new position -- which evidently was part of his old position.

Seems to me there's bound to be friction between him and the players -- unless he spends a lot of time away from the area scouting or working at player development programs, which I guess is the plan.

I can't wait to see who we get next? How about Fernando Clavijo?

Finally OZ is fired! Great News. When OZ played for a draw w/DC United I knew his days were numbered. So what coach do you fans want? 1)Rongen 2)Newman (I say no) my choice is Clive Charles or Wolfgang Sunholz,

This is similar to MLS shifting Dave Dir to the TV studio since they still had him under contract after he was fired as coach of the Burn.

Scouting and player development is a no man's land which will give OZ some time to explore his options before moving on.

Good for you guys. As for a new coach, Petke's old college coach has won a game or two...

Unfortunately, it's still going to be Nick choosing the replacement.

Me thinks a certain Mr. Payne is going to have a lot input on this decision.

    Of course, he hired Rongen!

Now we can all go to that Metro v Haiti game as a thank you to the front office for letting him go.

    Okay, that was just ridiculous.

    I wonder why:

    1) They didn't ask Zambrano to "step down" instead.
    2) Why the Metros didn't whack him the week after they were eliminated.
